A question about a rice-based dish

How can I make a rice-based meal earlier in the day and then safely reheat it later for the family? Is this doable? Rice scares me I don’t want to give the kids food poisoning

As long as you cool it quickly then refrigerate it you will be fine.

The important think is to get it cold enough, store it well and then hot enough. So don’t gently re heat it - you may as well cook it when you need it for the amount of hassle

Put it in the fridge after cooking. It's leaving it at room temperature too long that causes issues

Rice is fine if it’s not left at room temperature for long periods , get it in the fridge to cool down quickly and reheat does it’s piping hot.

Thanks all. I shall make the dish and put it straight into the fridge then Smile

Don't put it immediately in the fridge otherwise it will raise the temp of your fridge. A good tip I was given is to spread out the dish as much as possible to increase the surface area so it cools quicker.

I start cooking mine, properly covered, just outside.

Cook the rice thoroughly at the first cooking, cool quickly then refrigerate immediately.
