Gift ideas

So I will visit my friend in east europe, Will be staying in his parent's place for about a week. I would like to bring them a gift to show my gratitude.

What would you suggest? Ideally something could represent this country a bit.

I am a guy and he's just a friend. lol don't know why i need to say this lol

Which part of the uk are you from?
Take a local recipe and a couple of nice examples?
Cornish pasty
Eccles cake
Bakewell tart
Many of these places have fancy tea towels with a recipe printed on.

I'm not from this country but have lived here for quite a while lol

ideally something easy to carry in the luggage, and not occupy too much space :)
