Has anyone actively tried to increase their brain power/intelligence?

Menopause has made me brain dead. I may have been brain dead before but my memory is crap now too.

I'm on HRT.
I used to be pretty bright.

I'm tempted to do an A level on line. ( I have a degree from about one million BC)

Is brain training a real thing?

I read a lot online (try to go for non political party focussed writing) and google allsorts that I hear about. Maybe someones died and Ill look up a bit more about them and that often links to something else and I read a bit about that. Its often lots of snippets but they are interesting. I never read fiction books but love "facts", even if they are hardly worth knowing.

Ive also returned to evening classes in French as I loved it at school but then stopped.

I was really mashed brain during the peri and menopause. But it is much clearer now Ive come through it. If its related to that, it does get better!

I'm the same too at the minute, my second child is 6 months old and I have postnatal depression. I've started taking a vitamin b complex, it says it helps to boost mental performance.

Place marking OP

My brain so rubbish, I was thinking I need a brain training game or might even buy Jenga or a jigsaw. I don’t know what’s happened to it!

I read a lot but it’s like there’s a whole bunch of skills that my brain has just forgotten.

Try the app elevate. It's satisfying & boosts confidence. I always thought I was rubbish at maths and strong with comprehension / writing , but I surprised myself on both counts... Great to do for just a few mins here & there.

Thanks earl
I’m keen to do something that doesn’t include a screen though.

I read a lot too but I don't seem to retain anything.
I've just signed up on another thread for a read a long David Copperfield.

OP retention is an issue for me
Not with fiction so much, but with anything news or work related

I also can’t multitask...after building a whole career on it, it’s a bit worrying!
