52 if we don't overpay... took out a 28 year mortgage at 24. I imagine we will decrease the term when we remortgage.

Dollymixture22 · 04/01/2020 21:08

49 - Unless i overpay more. Or move😊

DonaldTrumpsChopper · 04/01/2020 21:08
  1. I enjoy work, no urge to retire, so borrowed long term so we can enjoy our quality of life whilst we work.
Mintjulia · 04/01/2020 21:09

I’ve already paid off one. Then me & ex split so now I have three years to go on the second one. I’ll be 59.

scaryteacher · 04/01/2020 21:09

Last year, I was 53 and dh 58. Great relief.

Lololololola · 04/01/2020 21:11

Would have been this May (46). Instead got divorced and no longer own a home and on my salary, never will.

stuckinthemiddlewithtwats · 04/01/2020 21:14

Early 40s. We're hoping to move though so the house we want will mean a huge mortgage until we're 69 Sad

OxanaVorontsova · 04/01/2020 21:14

60

Soen · 04/01/2020 21:15

64, but I've been overpaying. Hoping to have it paid off before I'm 50.

Littlepond · 04/01/2020 21:16

The way it is now, I’ll be 66 and DH will be 70. We hope to overpay and reduce this but at the moment we are stretched to the max

Chickydoo · 04/01/2020 21:17

I was 45

1990shopefulftm · 04/01/2020 21:19

its a 40 year mortgage, I'd almost be 62 but the plan is to overpay once we've cleared credit cards and loans which should be in less than 4 years, depends on if we have one DC or have a second.

Asschercut · 04/01/2020 21:20

I was 35.

Elbeagle · 04/01/2020 21:21

No idea. Our current mortgage in our current house with no overpayments... approx 58. But I have no idea how life will pan out, how many times we’ll move etc before then. I can’t imagine saying at the age or 35 ‘this is where I’ll live forever’. The thought gives me the heebie jeebies Grin.
I imagine we’ll buy a bigger house at some point in the next 5 years. Don’t know if we’ll stay in the same area. I’d like to live abroad again at some point too (have lived in France, Spain and Italy in the past). So I have no idea when we’ll be mortgage free!

Verily1 · 04/01/2020 21:22

64

Nearlyalmost50 · 04/01/2020 21:24

68, only just got back on the property ladder and clinging on!

crystal1717 · 04/01/2020 21:25
  1. How do people have it paid off in 40s. V depressing thread. Most start mortgage in 30s. Did these pp buy at 20yo in 2000! When prices were high and most people rented.
Antihop · 04/01/2020 21:27

I'm currently 42.

converseandjeans · 04/01/2020 21:28

I will be 57. We added a few years on so we could afford to move. Would have been 50. Can't wait!

Dogleg · 04/01/2020 21:31

Paid our off last month - we had a 20 year mortgage. Age 46. Now have an extra £880 a month to play with which is very welcome

NemophilistRebel · 04/01/2020 21:33

60 but hoping to reduce the term each time we swap deal

Louulz · 04/01/2020 21:33

Fucking dead at this rate

Lipperfromchipper · 04/01/2020 21:34
  1. That was 3 years ago.
SciFiScream · 04/01/2020 21:35

I'll be 66 - if we don't over pay. Currently overpaying a rate that should have us finished 8 years earlier. Aiming to keep that up as long as possible. 🤞🏻

ChasingRainbows19 · 04/01/2020 21:36

Officially with no overpayments 62. But aiming for 55 at the latest with overpaying. Like the security of having it paid for. Didn't buy until 37.
