At the moment he goes Cubs and football. Wanting to start something else possibly cricket or taekwondo. What are your 10 year olds doing?

Long time since mine was ten but he rode his bike, played guitar and sang (had concerts in back garden with friends), computer programming - if I remember correctly it was BASIC then and he learned computer language.

Had fun, went to a drama club. Was very lively and sometimes obsessive about things.

A lot changed at puberty :-).

At that age I did athletics (twice a week I think max - once with school, once with club), did piano lessons (out of school), flute lessons (in school), read a tonne, and did whatever else fit in with the family really!

Did brownies for a little bit but it didn't stick. Joined scouts when I was older. We did a lot of other 'good' activities as a family/parent and child(ren) groups though. Lots of reading, baking, swimming, board games, walking etc. I cycled into town and bought big cups of pic and mix sweets with a friend then inhaled them Grin that was late 10/early 11 though

Cubs, guitar lessons and taekwondo. Not sure if he’ll move up to scouts as it seems awfully late in the evening.

My 10yr old is in a cycling club outside of school. Cubs but his interest is dwindling. Plays guitar.
He mainly likes riding his bike.

Hoppinggreen · 04/01/2020 16:13

Outside school just swimming but he does Lego and Basketball at after school clubs

Football - 3x a week!
Swimming lesson

My 10 year old plays for football, cricket, tennis and triathlon clubs out of school. In school he goes to rugby, football, table tennis and badminton clubs. He did Cubs but found it boring, and to be honest he does so much it was a relief for me when he gave it up. He plays out with friends a lot too, does Park Run when he feels like it and reads loads. He has an Xbox, which if he didn't do so much else, he could easily be obsessive over. But probably has a half an hour to an hour a day on that max.

Generally he makes me feel tired just watching him!

DD swims competitively so has training 4x a week and galas at the weekend, also does Rookies lifeguards and in the summer does a surf club at the beach. Once a week she does a bushcraft club.

missyB1 · 04/01/2020 16:32

Ds has just turned 11. He doesn’t do much outside of school because his (independent) school has long hours and Saturday morning school. But he plays out on his bike/skateboard/rollerskates with kids on our estate on weekends and school holidays. He has asked for ice skating lessons and would like to join a youth theatre. We are moving him to a less intense school in September so he can have more out of school hobbies.

My 8yo skis- just dry slope in UK, but she's nearly ready for Rave Club when she will start competing.

BearSoFair · 04/01/2020 16:41

At school: Coding club Weds 3:45-5pm, Gym Thurs 3:45-5pm.

Out of school: Football, swimming, or cricket on a Sunday morning, usually 90mins. Organised by a group of Dads, so varies depending who is available each week. Not really a club though, kids can drop in and out as they please.

reluctantbrit · 04/01/2020 16:44

DD did (and still does) rookie lifesaver swimming, drama, singing and musical production, rides and is a Scout with an active weekend program.

QueenofLouisiana · 04/01/2020 17:19

Cubs and competitive swimming at that age. Still swimming 4 years later, scouting has been replaced by cricket.
