999 call handler and misunderstanding

This morning I collapsed at home after having a glass of water (relevant). My husband rang 999 and said that I'd had a drink and collapsed which the operator then took to mean that I was drunk.

The ambulance was cancelled when I came around and I went to my local doctors who are going to run some tests.

But...will we be referred to SS or will any follow up happen as the operator thought I was drunk and in the background of the call you can hear my distressed children?

Exactly what CassidyStone says. If ambulances didn’t attend people who had drunk alcohol their workload would be reduced. They don’t judge, they attend anyone who is unwell no matter the cause or possible cause. To cancel on the basis they believed you were under the influence of alcohol would be negligent too. A diabetic person can present as drunk without having touched a drop if their insulin levels are too low. A head injury or other neurological condition can also cause seemingly drunken behaviour/slurred speech. They can’t assume anything.

I doubt the OP is coming back same as I doubt this is the true story.

I've not read all the responses but the more rational me can see this was a silly concern to have and that I shouldn't have started this thread.

At the time I was confused, unwell and panicking. I went to my doctors and they are still investigating however I think it was a one off.

Thank you for your input.
