For DS's birthday he wants to 'stay in a treehouse'

Looking for some advice or recommendations.

DS is nearly 13 and has severe ASD. He hates his birthday so we always do something for it rather than buy him gifts and have a party. Its always been like this and its now become sort of a tradition.

So this year he has said he wants to stay in a treehouse. Have looked and the ones at CP are ££££, as are the ones at Alton Towers which would be a no-go anyway because he wont go back there due to an incident at scarefest this year.

So I am looking for recommendations, needs to sleep 4 and ideally somewhere where we can do stuff, not going to break the bank and is within a couple of hours drive of Leicester.

Have a look at this website. I'm not sure what the prices are like, but I've seen lots of their adverts featuring treehouses.

Look on air B&B.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 03/01/2020 13:35

there is one in the forest of dean here (so 2.5 hrs away). not sure of price as you can't see the cost until you put in dates but if you use the code QUIRKY10 you should get 10% off

I stayed at a air b and b last year that had a tree house ( I didn't stay in that ) it's in Anglesey tho' is that to far for you ?

Peridot1 · 03/01/2020 15:30

There is one in Somerset. Lavender Hill Holidays. We stayed in their small cottage and they were building the treehouse one. Not sure if too far or too expensive but maybe worth a look?

This is lovely!

Port Lympne Safari park (East Kent, near Dover) has them I think.
Quite ££ though, but you get to walk up to the animals which sounds lovely.

Kanga83 · 03/01/2020 21:07

Another vote for Port Lympne. The place is amazing. Pricey, but the keepers are so very knowledgeable and it's a really lovely experience. I live in Kent and done this and the safari experience a couple of times now

Google Rufus's Roost at Baby Manor in North Yorkshire.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 03/01/2020 21:33

If you really can't sort that, how about taking him to Alnwick gardens, they have a tree house cafe. Might be too far away though.

LoisLittsLover · 03/01/2020 21:35

I came on to say forest holidays have them, but a pp has beaten me to it

KidCaneGoat · 03/01/2020 21:38

Forest holidays but they are not cheap.

Ilovesausages · 03/01/2020 22:22

What is your budget? They have treehouses at the Chewton Glen hotel which look amazing. Sooooo expensive though. Waiting til I win the lottery!!!

Bloodybridget · 03/01/2020 22:26

Seconding MrsJakeLovell's recommendation of Living Room treehouses near Machynlleth, I stayed in one for my 60th birthday, it was brilliant! So beautifully designed, and we loved the composting loo and outdoor shower.

TravellingSpoon · 03/01/2020 22:30

Thank you @MrsJakeLovell. Those treehouses look amazing and much cheaper than some of the others - Forest Holidays want over £2k. Will book one in the morning as they are available for his birthday weekend.

Excited now!

MrsJakeLovell · 03/01/2020 22:32

Yay! Glad it’s available - hope you have a fantastic time!

namechangenumber2 · 03/01/2020 23:15

Center Parcs! I'm sure the longleat one has tree houses? Also Alton towers?

fastliving · 03/01/2020 23:56

Sorry I meant wake up to the animals...not walk up to them!
