Colostrum and breastfeeding

Hi worried mum here looking for advice.

My son was born 7 weeks ago today. On day one he was breastfed, but midwifes became concerned after no urination at day 2 and so we took the decision to give him formula through fear of dehydration. After having formula he had a wee, I was so relieved and worried I wasn't producing enough milk that he stayed on formula. He did have some natural feeds but mostly formula. I've now got a private consultant coming to see me to look at relactation but I'm now really worried he didn't have enough colostrum and that this might affect his immune system.

I feel so guilty now for not persevering but I was so scared of him losing weight.

Any thoughts or experience appreciated..TIA.

Alot of babies go straight on to formula with no ill effects. Don't worry about it - you did what was needed at the time.

I only breastfed my daughter for 1-2 days - she went onto formula afterwards and is an incredibly robust and healthy child, never really been ill ever, she's 9. Don't worry x
