Holiday ideas

DH has a big birthday soon and we have been saving up to go on holiday. I was thinking long haul but have just realised that we will only be able to go for a week as DSD's mum wont agree to her being away for longer.

Any ideas on what where we could go thats a bit more exotic/different than europe but not so far that jet lag will waste a lot of our week?

My DH also has a big birthday soon and we are going to Iceland - got Northern Lights and Blue Lagoon trips booked and possibly some snow mobiling!

Or somewhere in the UAE perhaps, Abu Dhabi?

Oh Iceland sounds fab!! That's a good idea

Was going to suggest Iceland as well!

Madeira, Morocco or Sicily also springs to mind.

Or maybe isle of scilly? Always fancied going there after seeing it on tv.

I took DH to New York for 5 night for his 50th

South Africa? The flight isn’t short but you won’t have to worry about jet lag. Or NY? Quite a short flight and you get an extra day if you fly back overnight.

I enjoyed both Morocco and Egypt, both felt like very different cultures without being a very long flight away.

Another vote for South Africa. Flights are usually all overnight so you won't waste a day travelling, plus at the moment SA is only 2 hrs ahead, goes down to 1 hr ahead when the clocks go forward in the Spring. And the exchange rate is pretty good at the moment. Beautiful beaches, awesome food and wine, very child friendly, plus amazing cities and safari all on offer!
