Does blocking someone on Facebook also block them on FB Messenger

Wasn't quite sure of the best place to post this question.

My ex partner has either 'unfriended' or blocked me on Facebook (I'm not a big FB user so not sure how to tell the difference).

Does anyone know if blocking means I'd also be blocked on Messenger? Our recent Messenger conversations now show as delivered but unread (they showed as read until today).

Googled it but doesn't seem to be a definitive answer anywhere.

If they have unfriended, but not blocked, you can see their public page. There will be a button that says "Send Friend Request". Came as a shock to me when I thought I hadnt seen posts from a facebook friend in a while. Indeed because they had quietly unfriended me.

For blocking you cannot see anything. I am blocked from a local facebook group and know it's there but it doesnt show for me in searches.

He might have put ignore on your messages.

It means that your messages won’t land in his inbox, he will have to go to his junk folder to find them.

I think he has blocked me on FB rather than just 'unfriending' me.

When I search his name in Facebook (in the app) it doesn't show his profile picture on his page and no public info.

Still see his profile picture on the FB Messenger app in our conversation thread.

If you block someone via messenger it comes up the option to block profile and to block on messenger. I recently blocked someone on messenger but not their profile.

When you block someone on messenger it comes up on the screen you can not reply to this conversation. I'm not sure if it says the same if you are the one who has been blocked, it did used to but could have changed its a while since someone has blocked me .

Also if someone has blocked your profile you won't be able to see their profile at all they disappear altogether the same way they would it they deactivated their page.

Hmm..I think he has blocked me on Facebook but not on Messenger.

I can no longer see his 'last active' in the Messenger app but can see his profile photo and it looks as though I could still message him there (not that I will be - just trying to work out what's what).

I feel your pain.

I was blocked from his Facebook on November 24th 2020. This includes messenger too.

I was shocked to see that I was blocked, and for about 2 weeks I would go look to see if I had gotten unblocked, but no.

Well today January 24th, 2021, two months later. I go check randomly and to my surprise see that I can reply on messenger, but I’m still blocked on Facebook.

I got excited, but now I’m begging to think it might just be a glitch/bug. According to Facebook, when you’re blocked off their profile, you can’t message with them.

I have another Facebook account, and blocked myself, and sure enough, I can’t use messenger without unblocking myself.

Hurts to say, but it might just be a Facebook glitch. Sorry :(
