Supermarket bought trainers?

Has anyone bought some supermarket trainers and had a really good experience or better than expected? I'd like to get some which are on offer at the supermarket at the moment just for jogging and cycling, nothing too serious and I don't really want to spend more than £20 /25€ .

I know the technology won't be the most up to date, and I don't care about the design , but it should do the job shouldn't it?

Anything I should really look out for or avoid? Lidl has some "barefoot" range and normal. Any advice?

I would be very careful getting them from a supermarket for running in. Good shoes are key to protect your body from injury, places like decathlon and sports direct will have proper running shoes within your budget

Look out for the Aldi running special buys - at a particular time each year - they do good kit. But for your purposes what you have seen should be fine. I like New Balance.

There are lots of study that say trainers are all a gimmick and do not protect anyone from running injuries. I use basic decathlon trainers and they are fine.

Ah, ok, thank you. Yes maybe for the long term and for health reasons maybe I need to invest a bit more.

I think it depends on how much running you will be doing. You can get away with super cheap basics for just about all running gear, but I would say the two things that you really need to spend a bit more on are a good sports bra and a decent pair of running shoes.

I stumbled on this site to buy some Ugg walking boots, OP, and got a pair of Nike ladies trainers for about twenty quid.

Worth a look?
