Health thread - 8 yr old boy in pain down there

Hello
Has anyone's child had a UTI?
My son just started complaining of his penis hurting at the tip. And he keeps going to the toilet. Literally started complaining 1hour ago out the blue.
It's obvious 1.30pm.gave him paracetamol and ibuprofen. Any other advice ???? Wait for GP in AM?
Single parent so a bit unsure - noone to talk about it to
No visible injury at all. Maybe slightly red at the little hole where pee comes out. But may be imagining. Not really looked closely before.
He keeps saying it hurts

ring 111 for advice.
good luck

Bless him. Yes painkillers and keep his fluid uptake high- if he is still in pain I’d get in touch for an emergency GP appt. If he cannot pee I’d call nhs 24. Poor lamb.

Water infections can turn nasty in boys / men. He needs to be seen in the morning.

Thank you everyone. I've called 111 so waiting for nurse to ring me. Hopefully all OK... Just a bit difficult as he is crying and saying he can't sleep cos of pain. That's the part that's a bit difficult and worrying. Let's see what the nurse says.
Thanks for support. Everything is a bit more difficult at night when you're alone

Just wondered how your son was today?

DocusDiplo · 03/01/2020 00:30

Hi @Littlejamtart thank you for checking in. Waiting an hour and a half at GP surgery! No nitrates in urone so they have sent off sample for checks. They presumably dont want to dish out antibiotics unnecessarily. Hoping plenty of water and painkillers will help it go away by itself. And he is fast asleep now :) Thank you for asking.
