I'm going to be a grandma this year

In a few short weeks our first grandchild will be born.

DD and her chap are living with us at the moment as they're buying a house and she finishes work for maternity on Friday.

I love having them here, chances are they'll still be here when the baby is born and were all so excited. She has 5 younger siblings at home from 22 down to 8.

Just wanted to share. Not long now.

Woo hoo! If you look in Classics at the elephantine skipping thread it'll give you some idea of how it feels. An added bonus is all the aunties and uncles.

Me too op Smile
They’ll also be living with us and I have younger children in the house. It’s very exciting but I’m nervous too about the dynamics of it all and trying to make sure I keep a healthy balance of being helpful but not interfering!
Congratulations to you and your family

MrsMillerbecameababy · 02/01/2020 08:05

Wow - I hope you have an absolutely enormous house! Shock

Congratulations to your DD and her partner (and you on becoming a grandmother) but I hope their house purchase goes through smoothly ASAP! Ten people including a newborn in one house with all the complex dynamics of that being two couples and their respective children is potentially incredibly challenging.

Rainingdogsandcats · 02/01/2020 13:11

We have plenty of room. DD and her partner have 2 rooms for their own use and a bathroom.

Rainyrain I know, I'm a doula so fairly knowlegable about all things birthy but I've tried to keep back unless asked. I'll be with them on their request for the birth but have made it clear to the rest of the family that their space is indeed that and we can't go in whenever we feel like it. It's only been a couple of weeks so far but seems to be working ok.

Obviously I want their house purchase to go smoothly too but I admit I do like them being around. All DC's adore DD and her chap is lovely too.

Congratulations to you too rainyrain

Me too, found out in Boxing Day, due in August. I’m ridiculously excited and can not wait to go baby shopping but it’s too early yet.

Rainingdogsandcats · 02/01/2020 13:17

aposterhasnoname congratulations. Exciting times.

It's wonderful. Many congratulations

Rainingdogsandcats · 02/01/2020 13:25

dieu thank you, I'm going to do my best. My children are not lucky enough to have grandparents. This little one is lucky enough to have 2 healthy sets.

Congratulations! I now have 2 lovely grandchildren. TBH, with the first I was obviously happy to be becoming a grandma, but sort of thought "meh, a baby".

I was completely knocked for six by the overwhelming love I felt for this new little person. Same for the second one. They are an absolute joy and I love them both to pieces. It is amazing watching them grow into their own personalities.

As pps have said, have a look at the elephantine skipping thread. Warms the cockles of your heart.
