Anyone else got this awful chesty cough?

Asking for poor DP, not me. Started on Sunday with sore throat and body aches, now absolutely horrendous chesty cough, really hacking his guts out. No fever, and hes eating, but no energy and he looks terrible. Hes otherwise in decent health and not on any medication

See GP or just wait it out? All advice gratefully received

Sounds like flu. The elevated temperature suggests that.

Yes, and I'm 34 weeks pregnant so can't take any of the good drugs I haven't slept all night and I'm supposed to be back in work tomorrow, no idea if/how I'll manage.

namechange I have that variation. V sore eyes, ear ache and accompanying dizziness/wooziness plus temp on and off, sinus issues and headache. Thought it was starting to clear and it's now gone to my chest.

DH has the week long awful throat and chest version. Dd2 had the no appetite, temp and snot one.

We're into week 3 now and not amused. Christmas has been very lazy

Started xmas eve and started feeling better yesterday

I would wait it out and relieve symptoms. It is a virus so doctor will not do anything unless it results in a chest/sinus infection.

Same here. I'm coughing that hard I'm retching afterwards. (Sorry!) it's caused a flare up of my asthma and now I'm on steroids too.

I’ve had a cough now for 2 weeks.
I never get coughs!

I’m taking benylin (? ) cough mixture which is helping a bit, but I’m worried now I’ve had it so long it will turn into chest infection.

My DH has had it for nearly 2 months now-I find Covonia for nose and throat catarrh seems to be helping.

Dh has had the horrible chesty cough for about 3 weeks now. I had the horrendous sore throat on and off for a few weeks, then the proper chest infection for the past week. In laws and my parents all have it too. Just as it seems to be clearing up it comes back even worse.

Must find the Vicks. This is the second bout this year. First time ended up with antibiotics, a spray to shift stuff from my sinuses (very Belgian) and an inhaler. The Doc said I was on the verge of pneumonia. Now back in the UK for good, so might go and see the doc and see what gives. I have an autoimmune disease as,well, so it takes me ages to shake things off.

I've got the flu. Vomited for 5 days. Sore throat, ears and tickly cough. Aching all over. Can't stomach any food. Even soup makes me retch.
Caught it from adult ds. He came to stay for Christmas and gave it to me. I feel terrible

I took the decorations off the tree and have worn myself out.
My back aches so much from coughing.

We are at the end of it now. DS, 2.5, had it bad. One night of croup, and another night of him coughing so hard he vomited 6 times in the night. In our bed, his bed and the spare bed 😫. Sat up with him for 3 hours, keeping him upright until the worst passed, and sobbing because it was so bad and theres was little I could do for him 😭
