Low temperature - child - best thing to do?

NYnachos · 01/01/2020 19:00

My 4yo is shivery, taken his temperature twice, first it was 35.3c, then 36c. He's also been very upset/teary.

I know what to do with high temperature, but not sure about low temperature.

Will take his temperature again in a few minutes and call 111 if it's no better

Any advice/experience of this?

We had this in November and the on call gp was quite concerned. Please call them.
For us we didn't need to go in as it was 4am and her temp was going back up. But we ended up being checked next day in hospital.
Check for wee output also.

Also, check the thermometer on yourself and check batteries. Two things I did during that night.

Thanks for the posts. I've taken it again and it's gone up to 36.2c. Tried it on me and it was the same.

He seems to have perked up now, so I'll take it one more time, then maybe put him to bed.

It sounds ok if it's going back up now. I always test on myself too to calibrate the thermometer!

Do recheck his temp and call 111 for advice. Always best to check.

Recheck as soon as he wakes. Consultant was concerned when ds2 has temperature drops when he was poorly
