What to look for in a washing machine?

We’re in dire need of replacing our washing machine, but having always (somehow) been given half decent ones, or only ever been able to afford the absolute cheapest, I’m not really sure what I should be looking for.

I’m after the biggest drum size ideally, a quick wash, it needs a pre wash (we use reusable nappies), but other than that, what are good/useful features to have?

Would you recommend your machine, if so what is it?

Another vote for a 5 year guarantee - LG and Samsung have this in the £380 price range

Miele
Bosch
Zanussi .
Indesit.

Miele has been the quietest and very good wash. Pricey though.
Bosch good wash. Didn't ever have to call engineer.
Zanussi. Good all rounder. Didn't go wrong pasted on to friend when finished.
Indesit. Good wash.

So depending on your budget at the time. Zanussi was my favourite out of the middle price range.
I have their built in oven ect now 12 years old and still going. X
Hope this helps. X

@Kyriesmum1
I agree with you. Out of all the machines I've had my Miele from John Lewis. Is definitely the best. But it does depend on your budget at the time.
So I have suggested others too. X

Maybe you could get interest free credit to get a more expensive one. Doesn't seem so bad then. X

Our first one was a candy and it was 2nd hand (8 years old) when we acquired it. That machine was awesome and lasted a further 10 years. We had problems fitting the new one as it was hot and cold feed and all ms hives now are just cold feed. It was giant and had a super spin on it. We had to get rid after it took my clothes hostage for three days and refused to work afterwards. I always look at Candy first, i left one in my old home and my new one isn’t quite as good in my eyes.

The big problem I have is that my shortest wash is 15 min which is far too quick. Washes around the 30-40 min mark are for things like wool, sportswear etc but the spin is low. Next time, I want more flexibility in choosing length of wash, speed of spin and temp. It's Bosch too!
