NYD boredom!!

Today feels like a very 'meh' start to a new year all round! NYD weather is very gloomy here. Had plans to go for a lovely walk but got up late and DH had to log in and do some work for a couple of hours and now he's finished it's already past 3. I'm pregnant and so not hungover but feeling 'meh'- just coming to the end of first trimester. Got lots of plans and thongs I want to organise around the flat, organisation wise, new bullet journal etc but feeling pretty lethargic today!

Any ideas what I / we can do to perk ourselves up? We live in the city so have to travel to have lovely walks. Might plan to get up early tomoro and do that. Meanwhile today.... apparently you can't do laundry as it's bad luck? DH is now using tv to play fifa(!). I've read the papers, read my book. Forgot to get shopping in (got Ocado coming tomorrow) but feel guilty that there's no lovely roast cooking in the oven. Might order a curry!

Help me overcome the boredom / lazy unhealthy first trimester New Year's Day blues?

I hope it's not bad luck to do washing. I'm on my 3rd load Hmm

The house should be spotless on Hogmanay to ensure starting the new year on a clean slate. Any cleaning or washing washes your luck away. Dunno how true it is but this is how I was brought up as a scot.

Ooops, that's me scunnered then. Been sweeping , laundering, cleaning and polishing today and it feels wonderful to sit down and chill now. OP how about a call to friends or relatives you havent caught up with for a while? Or book a spa day for you and your DH to enjoy towards the end of your pg. Or just embrace the luxury of doing nothing other than reading a good book with a cuppa tea.

That bloody washing old wives tale! I knew nothing about this until yesterday. I have always done washing on NYD until I learnt of this. I even rang my mum to see if she does hers on NYD. Turns out she doesn't but told me not to be so ridiculous... still can't bring myself to do it lest I despatch us all in 2020 Confused

NYmeh · 01/01/2020 16:20

Haha I didn't know about the washing wives tale till today either!

Resorting to watching Made in Chelsea on catch up and going to order a curry later. Great idea about the spa to look forward to!

My MIL did the whole clean house for Hogmanay. Then would have a party, and the whole place was a tip by midnight anyway. Never understood.
