1st day of the decade ...

Werkwerkwerkwerk · 01/01/2020 07:06

How is everyone spending the 1st day of the decade?
Woke up to a relatively clean house, surprisingly after a nye party !
Bbq sausages for breakfast.
Swim in the pool with DH before getting bombed by kids.
8 pints of water.
Finished my book in the sunshine.
Napped with Ddog in the shade.
DSS in the huff somewhere, not sure why, try and temp him round with takeaway later.
Another swim.
Now sat with an ice cold cider waiting to watch the sunset over the mountains.
What is everyone else doing ?

I don’t know.
I drank an aweful lot last night and have woken up apparently hangover free. Which means the bloody thing will strike at one point or another!
Maybe a New Year’s Day swim / dip if the sea isn’t too rough, it’s been bad lately and too rough to swim properly

JellyfishandShells · 01/01/2020 09:06

Went out at 7.30 to get paper: front garden covered in firework debris from neighbour’s party ( not cool still be letting them off at 1am; grr) ; a car parked at very odd angle half on pavement further down road - no sign of impact or scrape; , only one other person walking , hardly any cars ;bus went by with some sleepily looking revellers inside; could have done with not seeing two piles of vomit near pub.

Now back home with paper open at crossword and coffee to hand. Peace.

Lulu1919 · 01/01/2020 09:12

Didn't stay up to 'do' NYE
I'm on sofa looking at friends FB posts
Husband asleep in bed
Might go out for a walk later....
Otherwise just chilling..

Cloudyyy · 01/01/2020 09:12

Snuggled up on the sofa with the baby at the moment, kids playing. All off for a big walk after breakfast and then we have extended family coming round this afternoon.

Topsy44 · 01/01/2020 09:29

Still in my dressing gown just had breakfast after a very rare lie-in. DD is happily watching tv. I will get in gear soon to get dressed, take all the decs down, tidy up and then hopefully we'll get out for a walk later in the day, followed by a film, then maybe a takeaway.

Lordfrontpaw · 01/01/2020 09:31

Still in bed. Don’t want to get up. 😞 (not hungover)

onlyoneoftheregimentinstep · 01/01/2020 09:44

Is no one going to point out that it's not the first day of the decade? It's the first day of the '20s' but the decade doesn't finish until the end of this year.

Ithinkwerealonenowtiffany · 01/01/2020 09:50

Was up at 6 having breakfast. Met friends and ran a half marathon. Back home at 9:30. Then quick tidy up, pub for lunch with DH and DS then a walk. Back home to take the tree down.

Back to work tomorrow for 2 days.

milliefiori · 01/01/2020 09:53

Silent house as DTeens both slept over at a NYE party. DH still lying in after champagne at midnight.

Plan to go and collect D Teens and drag them for a walk then relax at home with them. Feeling very very peaceful at the start of this decade. Not sure why, with Boris and climate change, but I feel really optimistic.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 01/01/2020 09:56

Everyone is still asleep! Just relaxing in bed, going to get up a make brews and breakfast shortly and wake everyone up.

Big roast later then out for a walk or look round shops and a coffee.

Pilot12 · 01/01/2020 09:56

Going to MIL for lunch which will be very boring and time will drag but hopefully we can leave at tea time.

Really looking forward to tomorrow when DP returns to work after three weeks holiday, yay!

iWantToBreakBrie · 01/01/2020 09:57

Took the dog for a walk where he cried and pulled to chase after a bitch in heat. Then stood in dog poo.

Am presuming the year might pick up a bit 😂

Orangecake123 · 01/01/2020 10:04

I went out to the park for a short walk.
Then bought organic chocolate on my way back Grin

TheBoxOfDelights · 01/01/2020 10:05

onlyoneoftheregimentinstep, it is the first day of a new decade. By the time 2019 ended there had been ten whole years starting at 1st Jan 2010.

1st Jan 2020 = the twenty twenties!

TheBoxOfDelights · 01/01/2020 10:06

Two thousand and twenties! Xmas Grin

BaubleTheLumpOfCoal · 01/01/2020 10:27

DD and I are snuggled up in bed watching films with some snacks - we don't plan on moving.

My dad is staying with us until tomorrow, he's downstairs with coffee and football - don't think he plans on moving either.

Takeaway of some sort for tea.

Hot bubble bath for DD and I then an early night.

It's lovely to just relax without any expectation of being festive.
For the past month I've not been able to switch off and just lounge, the minute I'd think of putting my pyjamas on was the minute someone would either pop in or call and invite us out.
January is time for me to claw my duvet cave time back Crown Grin

marblesgoing · 01/01/2020 10:41

I'm the only one awake here.

Pre teen and teen still asleep and dh still out for the count after a stretch of 3 am starts for work this last two weeks.
He managed a quick power nap yesterday before friends came round with their dc and we enjoyed a lush evening with them.
Nobody got to bed till 2 am

We were planning a nice walk but weathers crap at the moment so may be games and pootling
Got a nice roast to look forward to later x

Friendly93 · 01/01/2020 10:43

I’ve had a lazy morning so far, I’m going to go for a walk now and take my decorations down later Xmas Sad

OlaEliza · 01/01/2020 10:45

We're still in bed.

Haven't really got anything planned for today.
I want to go for a walk.
Read my book.
Do a bit of training with the dog.
Have a bath.
Nothing exciting.

happypotamus · 01/01/2020 10:56

I didn't stay up until midnight last night and I didn't wake up until 8 this morning, so I didn't start the new year feeling like I might die of exhaustion. Have played a few games of guess who and a game of labyrinth, need to pop to a shop for bread and milk, need to get dressed first, then we are going to in-laws for a roast dinner.

lucysmam · 01/01/2020 10:56

I'm just about to get dressed, then start slowly taking decs down.

Dd2 has been up about 20 minutes & is taking a cuppa back to bed to read one of her new books for a while.

& dd1 isn't up yet, I don't think. I'll poke my head round her door to check when I go up.

I'm making a roast beef dinner later on & could do with mopping downstairs/shoving the hoover round upstairs.

That's probably about it tbh. We might go for a walk later, or we might not. We'll see later on!

Happy New Year to you all :)

Blueberryblueberry · 01/01/2020 12:24

Dragged my arse to parkrun this morning (I have never made NYD before so have impressed myself Grin),playing games with the kids, going to have leftover pizza for lunch maybe a short bike ride to the pub and some crafts with DD later. Netflix and probably taking down the tree this evening

Pogmella · 01/01/2020 12:48

Waiting in the car with a very overtired DC who crashed out on the drive to our nice long NYD dog walk. Have a table booked at a cosy pub for 1:30 so decided lunch would probably be more pleasant if they’re left to sleep but am slightly jealous of DP and his woodland ramble...

milliefiori · 01/01/2020 14:41

Just got back from a gorgeous hike along the downs with two hungover teens who were out partying all night until 5 am. Made them toasties and now they are crashing in front of the TV.

Bluebutterfly90 · 01/01/2020 14:46

Done quite a bit of tidying, bullet journaling and laundry.
Then switched energy supplier.
Trying to be more organized for the new year, can you tell?
Kind of run out of steam now so I'll just be sitting on the sofa hoping baby turns up today. (6 days late!!)
Also probably getting texts and calls asking me if I've had the baby yet. Hmm
