Basically has anybody got a family member who thinks they know it all who have to roll your eyes to and grit your teeth when they trying to tell you something but you know it's not right. I have decided to stop speaking to this family member now about if I'm getting something or if I've got something because this family member likes to have is opinion on it or knows exactly what to say and adamant that they are right. ???

This was my ex husband. If you think it's hard to converse with a family member who is Mr Know-it-All, imagine being married to him !

PILs came round last night. FIL asked me what the bill they passed in parliament was just before Xmas then proceeded to tell me I was wrong and why for about 15 minutes.

Spoiler alert: he was wrong.

Luckily our family is very easy going and being a know-it-all it considered to be very rude and immature. Instead of a captive audience he/she would be likely to have to deal with a lot of banter and hysterics for taking themselves so seriously.

Why the fuck have you started multiple threads about the same thing

GiveHerHellFromUs · 01/01/2020 06:23

@Thoughtlessinengland he's started multiple threads about different things, hasn't he? Although most of them are bizarre Grin

I come from a family of opinionated know-it-alls!

The person who is the most extreme example is actually deeply insecure, and thinks that by talking in the way they do (which is often over-elaborate), they will provoke debate and that's how they get attention.

Paying more attention when they are interacting in a more fashion has helped a bit - worth trying if the person is same generation or younger than you?

@Barret501 is the Mr Know it all your brother who doesn't want children and is "stubborn"? I thought you were going to avoid him anyway ....

GiveHerHellFromUs · 01/01/2020 08:28

@Lobsterquadrille2 might be the one with smelly feet Grin

Lobsterquadrille2 · 01/01/2020 08:34

@GiveHerHellFromUs Grinif I remember correctly the "disgusting tasting foot odour" emanated from one of the brothers.

I hope that these threads will be updated by the OP. I'm agog with anticipation.
