So I just made my first baked camembet. Feeling pretty underwhelmed. It reminds me of sprouts.

I suppose it does have that back-of-the-throat tang like wasabi or sprouts.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 31/12/2019 16:35

I don't think I've ever had a Camembert that tasted like sprouts...

Did you flavour it with anything? Oil/rosemary/garlic?

APatchyTomCat · 31/12/2019 16:36

Pretty much. We love it when it's extra cabbagey

ShivD · 31/12/2019 16:39

Yes, I can see how you’d get that taste from it.

Mrsjayy · 31/12/2019 16:42

It is supposed to be tangy never likened it to sprouts but yeah I get that. I am doing one later on quite excited for it.

DoctorTwo · 31/12/2019 17:18

I'm at the ripe old age of and have never had Camembert, baked or otherwise. Hearing that it might taste of cabbage or sprouts means that for the first time in years I have a new year's resolution: eat a baked Camembert. I'll let you know whether I like it or not.

BikeRunSki · 31/12/2019 17:20

I really can’t work out how baked Camembert tastes like sprouts!

Cheeseboardcriminal · 31/12/2019 17:29

I wasnt over impressed with it. I didn't flavour it with anything no, just stuck it in the oven and dipped crusty bread in.

It's rank.
Dh is making some now. It's going to make the whole house stink like socks.

Sprouts I like. Camembert, not so much!

ALemonyPea · 31/12/2019 19:29

I love cheese, cannot stand baked Camembert though.

gerbo · 31/12/2019 19:35

Weirdly OP I baked my first Camembert today too!! I totally get you with the mouldy, sprouty savoury flavour. I quite enjoyed it but it didn't blow me away. I dipped baguette. Maybe it's all about what you dip?!

AhoyMrBeaver · 31/12/2019 19:38

I love cheese, but can't stomach camembert. To me it's sort of past its best broccoli, composted mild cheese.

Cheeseboardcriminal · 01/01/2020 11:49

So many of us that aren't loving it. I always thought it was THE cheese. I was so excited to try it.
