Could massively use some advice!
I hold a Director role in a global company, I’ve worked there for almost 5 years. They’ve recently restructured and my role was essentially made redundant. Although there was no official notice but my US based counter part was moved in to another role and told the role no longer existed. I was told they wanted to retain me and ‘to write my own job description’ then we’d negotiate on what I wanted. I then receive a letter from HR this morning informing me o was being displaced into a sales manager role. I’m furious! Surely they can’t demote me without following a redundancy process and surely they can’t ‘just’ send me an email informing me of a demotion? There are no concerns around performance and it has actually been the opposite (if that makes a difference).
Does anyone know where I stand from an employment law perspective?
Thank you
Del (regular user but name changed)

No they can’t - it’s technically constructive dismissal. Call ACAS.
