10yo boy stomach pain and vomiting at night/early morning

Posting here for traffic..

I can't ring my gp for an appt yet (if I ring at 8:30 I should get him seen today although the lines do get very busy).

My ds 10 has had stomach pain in the early hours of boxing day morning and again yesterday (the 30th) which led to vomiting twice both times. He was fine after though. Same again now (he hasn't been sick yet, dh lying beside him).

Any thoughts? I'm worried. And Dr Google has mentioned stomach cancer so talk me down please.

Stomach cancer!!! I hope you're not passing this anxiety on to your son.

Sounds like a bug

puguin86 · 31/12/2019 08:08

Sounds like a vomiting bug. Do you have an urgent care centre that you can take him to

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 31/12/2019 08:10

Pls don’t google- sounds like norovirus. Can you get fluids into him?

Appendicitis! A & E now! Can be fatal if untreated

MustardScreams · 31/12/2019 08:10

Sounds like a bug. PLEASE do not mention anything about bloody stomach cancer fgs.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/12/2019 08:11

I say this kindly, don't be ridiculous.

It's Christmas, he probably either has a bug, indigestion or had eaten a bit too much. If it gets worse then seek help but being sick twice is absolutely nothing to be alarmed about.

Iggly · 31/12/2019 08:12

So a stomach pain and vomiting only twice? Not constantly?

I suspect it’s something he’s eaten and doesn’t agree with.

Keep a food diary and see if it happens again. What has he eaten?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/12/2019 08:12

Being sick twice is not an indicator of appendicitis,FFS!!

Waffles80 · 31/12/2019 08:14

It sounds like a bug; don’t panic and over-react. It sounds like you might have a touch of health anxiety?

MegaClutterSlut · 31/12/2019 08:15

Stay away from Google! It could be a stomach bug which is the more likely the cause. Dh had similar with appendicitis.

Roselilly36 · 31/12/2019 08:15

Ring111 for advice, assuming you are in the UK, they will go through a checklist over the phone. And take it from there, stop panicking, that won’t help you or your son. Good luck.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 31/12/2019 08:16

He might have had too much rich food, he might have eaten something he's allergic too that you've never had before, he might have a bug.

The doctor will just say to rest and drink lots of water.
Call 111 because realistically it's unfair to take him to a GP surgery if he's likely to spread a bug.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 31/12/2019 08:16

Of course I haven't mentioned stomach cancer to him. And I'm not panicking. I just like to stay informed and I just can't see anything else obvious.

It was the 29th morning he was last sick (dh has corrected me, with Christmas every day feels the same). So 2 days ago... and 3 before that.

I'm in NI. 111 isn't a thing here.

Grumbling appendix, off to A and E

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/12/2019 08:18

99% of people would not even ring the GP for this, just monitor him and unless he gets worse leave it to run its course.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/12/2019 08:19

Grumbling appendix, off to A and E

Wtf?

NeverTalksToStrangers · 31/12/2019 08:20

'Talk me down' was the wrong thing to say. I'm fine. Not panicking, just concerned because it's not obvious what this is.

He has eaten lots of things. This is over 6 days. All 3 times he has been crying with pain. 3am, 7am, 7:30am.

WellErrr · 31/12/2019 08:21

Please don’t take a vomiting child to the dr, he’ll only spread it about.

It’s not appendicitis as he’s got better after you say? It’s either a bug or he’s eaten something that doesn’t agree with him. Hope he’s better soon. But step away from google.

Waffles80 · 31/12/2019 08:21

A grumbling appendix or one that’s infected is coupled with constant really awful tummy ache. Not intermittent pain and vomiting every couple of days.

It sounds like a bug. Monitor. Rest. Lots of water.

WellErrr · 31/12/2019 08:21

Grumbling appendix, off to A and E

Oh FFS.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 31/12/2019 08:22

The other 2 mornings he was quite violently sick twice over the period of a about 45 mins. Then fine for the rest of the day.

OP posts:
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/12/2019 08:23

Had he never had a bug before?

Geoffreythecat · 31/12/2019 08:25

Surely if the OP can get a GP appt, that's much more sensible than going immediately to A & E. Do people really think that a 10 year old vomiting twice is worthy of a trip to A& E without going to the GP first? I'm astonshed.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 31/12/2019 08:26

I really don't think it's a bug. The rest of us are fine.
