If so, how was the experience? I need to sell my car without trading in, and don,t fancy the hassle/risk of selling to a private buyer.

Did you find the price you got online was reduced by them once you followed it up?

Thanks

I have used them twice and they have been fab!

twoturtledove · 30/12/2019 19:34

That's how WBAC works. They give you an estimate and then once they've seen the car and fully appraised it they will give you the confirmed valuation.

When we value cars in dealerships, they always refer back to the online guide price from WBAC and we have to explain time & time again they have not seen your cars condition and conducted a full appraisal.

As pp said they keep knocking down and down for every scuff, scratch, fade on interior. However, the process is fast and simple.

No. Got a quote from them -a ridiculously low quote. Sold the car myself on eBay and got 3x what we buy any car had offered.

Bisforbert · 30/12/2019 19:44

I don't want the hassle of selling a car privately either or randoms coming to my house. Last time I asked the local village garage if they would have it in their car park and deal with enquiries in return for a cut and the time before I put it in a car auction, no reserve and got a 1k all hassle free - We buy any cars online estimate was £350

Mulledwineinajug · 30/12/2019 19:47

They offered me £60 for my car. So I sold it for £500 on eBay.

TurningLeaves · 30/12/2019 19:50

I used 'we buy any car' a few years ago. £3,400 online quote only dropped to £3,200. Was well worth it.

CoffeeCoinneseur · 30/12/2019 19:51

We sold a fairly rare car to them (one of only about 10 in the UK), they quoted 22k, they actually gave us 21k.

We had spent 3 months trying to sell it privately for 23k with no one interested in it.

zasknbg · 30/12/2019 20:01

I used them. They knocked quite a bit off the internet price they quoted and I was disappointed. However, I think that is the price you pay for it being so quick and easy. I am now leasing a car so will not be in this position again.

Africa2go · 30/12/2019 20:11

No wouldnt use them again. Had accurately described car but as a pp said, they knock you down for ANY blip in the service history. We had every record of servicing etc but he checked every single one (about 12 or so) and one of them didnt specify an oil change so said that meant we only had a 'part' service history and not 'full' service history. They rely on the fact that you're unlikely to walk away once you're at the appointment. I got the feeling they're trained on finding anomalies in the paperwork / dents etc so they can knock the price down. May be different in other areas.

Arnoldthecat · 30/12/2019 20:13

But why the surprise? These people operate the same way as the ones who guarantee to buy your house. I'll let you into a secret. I am willing to buy anyone's house and/or car on here,,just get in contact and ill make you an offer..

Fentyplenty · 30/12/2019 20:14

@zasknbg - that’s exactly what I,m planning to do. Sick of owning a car with all the hidden costs and also I feel it would be wise to lease for a couple of years to allow the market time to settle down and for the infrastructure required for electric cars to develop.
