Neil Innes RIP

Neil Innes has died suddenly aged 75. Known most for the spoof band 'The Rutles', songs for Monty Python, and as a member of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. Often music of kind and gentle wit.

I met him about 20 years ago when he was filming a travel show segment and he was a charming man.

Thoughts with his family and friends, whom I hope can take the small crumb of comfort that he did not seem to suffer.

I've just seen this on BBC News. Too bad. He was a chum of George Harrison too.

I just saw this on Twitter. Lots of glorious YouTube links. I'm still chuckling over his intro at a concert - 'Ladies and gentlemen, I've suffered for my music. Now it's your turn.'

The Rutles' numbers are brilliant pastiches of The Beatles. All You Need Is Cash. Grin

I too was really sad to hear about his death. I met him after a (quite brilliant) concert not so long ago, and he was the loveliest man, very gentle and humble.

Oh bless! I remember him well with Python (How sweet to be an idiot), and before that, when I was a teen, used to see him in Bonzo Dog. Happy memories.
