Help! Starters for NYE party

Inspiration needed please...!

We are going to a friends house for a small party on NYE, we have been asked to provide starters. There will be 6 adults, 3 children & must be gluten free. It will be very relaxed but sitting at a table. Cooking facilities at the hosts house will be limited as they will be cooking the main course.

My mind is blank....please help me...!

Melon with Parma ham would be easily GF, and lots of children like melon and ham (though perhaps not together).

Thank you. The hosts are doing cheese & antipasto nibbles so I think cold meat could be out.
Any other suggestions...? (Please)

What is the main course?

A Tian... wanky name I know... could do avocado and crab/prawn/smoked salmon. Not too onerous to assemble in rings when there.

Lamb is for main

I really don't like seafood (sorry)

Thai fish cakes. With sweet chilli sauce (bottle not home-made) and salad leaves. I used the BBC recipe. Easy and very tasty.

charley50 · 30/12/2019 11:57

Oh. Missed your update. Not sure if fish is seafood?

Soup??
Found some nice ideas on here OP I like the look of the beetroot and goats cheese terrine. Not sure if kids would eat it (mine wouldn’t) but maybe some dips and some GF bread alongside?

Half stuffed peppers? (Use rice rather than breadcrumbs for GF)
Baked leeeks?

isittheholidaysyet · 30/12/2019 12:14

Pate?

GrandmaSharksDentures · 30/12/2019 12:35

Ooh, stuffed peppers sounds good
