Mini pill and bleeding. Wondering how normal this is?

So I've been having heavy periods for a few years. It's not been heavy every month but got to the point my heavy months I was flooding tampon and pad every hour for 24-48 hours.

I'm 39.

Speaking to colleagues who have been through menopause or going through it many said they started mini pill at same age and it stopped them.

Saw GP who prescribed it and also have me prescription for Mirina if I wanted to have it fitted.

Started pill 5 days after last period and took it same time everyday.

My period came early this month. First 3 days there was very light spotting and I thought "wow, that's stopped it quick!".

Then had my 'normal period' after those 3 days. More pain than usual and although very obvious cell lining less clots and blood seemed thinner. Then I had 48 hours of cramps and some clots. Kept feeling like giving birth type pushing that I wouldn't control alongside sighing of my whole body that was like a reflex.

Period stopped Friday (that was a week of bleeding)

A few marks on tissue past few days but I'd expect that.

This morning I had another bleed. Not a huge amount but 1.5 hours later I felt a cramp and lost bright red blood and a clot about an inch long.

I know you can get spotting and it can take 3 months for periods to stop if they are going to and I was waiting for this before deciding if I wanted to go ahead with coil or not.

But does this sound normal? I currently have very slight cramps again like period pains and am waiting to see what progresses.

Am off out to run an errand and will check back when I return so please don't think I'm not responding to replies. Thanks

When I changed to the mini pill it took about 4 months for things to settle down. I was very regular and heavy before that.

I was on the mini pill early this year and was bleeding everyday, all the time. Couldn't wait for the few months it would've taken to settle as the constant bleeding was getting me down so came off after a month.
I'm pregnant now and already not looking forward to using contraception again 😩

So this could just be the settling down period? (No pun intended Grin)

I think I'll give it a month of me taking it further and then consider the mirina as well.

I’ve had periods like yours since having children they were heavy before but not as bad . I had constant bleeds on the mini pill (12 months) and the Mirena 2.5 years) I’m on zoely now which is slightly better not much but I’ve been told no there are no other options and no Fixable cause so I’m waiting until the drs think I’m old enough to have a hysterectomy

I'd have a hysterectomy if offered!
