Online donor sperm. Can't you order to your home anymore?

Hi,

I have this running in donor/conception, but posting here for traffic....

So my DW and I were all set on TTC early next year. Had a fertility check, all looked good and have a(n unplanned)13 year old from previous relationship, so I certainlywasfertile at some point.

We were ready to order our donor sperm from Cryo, but were then told you can't do this anymore. Is this right? Is it just Cryo that have stopped doing this or all sperm banks?

I desperately didn't want to ttc via a clinic. Without giving tmi, I wanted my DW to be involved in the whole insemination process. We wanted it to feel as natural as possible. Well, as natural as inseminating yourself with a strangers sperm whilst your DW is present, can be

Advice please.

TIA

I have a gay friend who did exactly this (her and her wife had the sperm insemenated at home) but I'm afraid that I don't know what company they used. I don't know enough about it. Their youngest is 1 in case that helps.

@Iggleonkupsy, are you sure it was through a bank and not a personal arrangement, such as Pride Angel? We had looked into that, but we decided against it in the end. Too many grey areas for us.

@Badabada, course not! Hopefully we'll both get a little more clued up Smile

If you know someone (or are someone) who is a *healthcare professional then you can fill out a form and have it sent to your home using SellmerDiers sperm bank.

  • For instance, a medical doctor, a nurse, a midwife, a nursing aid, a healthcare assistant, a physiotherapist, a dentist, bioanalyst, a medical laboratory technician etc.

Oh sorry op, I'm not actually sure and I'm sure you're right!! Sorry I don't feel like I've been helpful at all..but good luck with it all :)

@JellyBeans14, thanks. That doesn't really seem fair imo.

Yeah the rules changed recently. My friend is in a same sex relationship and they paid upfront for 5 vials of sperm. They had 3 delivered to their home (unfortunately no success) but then the rules changed so they got a refund on the final 2 as they have had IVF several times and didn’t want to go through a clinic again.
