Smart plug inspiration

I have a few smart plugs in use - two lamps in the sitting room and one for my heated dryer upstairs. I used my spare plugs for various Christmas lights, but since we took them down earlier today I’m not sure what else I could use them for. Any ideas? I have about 4 that are now redundant...

The kettle so it's boiled just as you get home. Plug in air fresheners to turn on before you get in.

I love smart plugs, well, smart anything!

Kettle and lamps are the best features I find.

If you use something like a hair straightener out it on one, so you can double check it's off when you're on the bus to work/shops/night out and have a little panic about it.

Once my Christmas lights are down I'll be putting it back on the kettle as I liked having the kettle boiled when I came down in the morning.
The hair straightener idea is a great one.
I have one in a lamp too which is great in winter as there's a light on when I come home.
I have great fun activating things remotely when Dd1 is in but I'm out. Scares her silly Grin

Electric Blanket - can turn it on without having to go upstairs before bedtime.

Thanks for the ideas - I don’t use any kind of hair stuff unfortunately otherwise that would be a good one. I might try the kettle, but I don’t think I drink enough tea to make it worthwhile! Maybe they will have to languish in my drawer until next Christmas Xmas Smile

We've got them but only use them on lamps, can't think of anything else. Kettle boiled in the morning is a nice idea but I don't trust it being full, DH sometimes uses it after I've gone to bed or I might forget to fill it.

Planning to use one to turn lamp on and off in dh music den to tell him when to come back for food. He will have headphones on so needs to be visual.

starsinyourpies · 30/12/2019 08:21

Yes electric blanket, best thing ever!

WeeDangerousSpike · 30/12/2019 08:25

How do they work with the kettle? My kettle is always turned on at the wall, it has a switch on the actual kettle to start it boiling. I've never seen an electric kettle that doesn't?

Bumpinthenight · 30/12/2019 09:13

We have one on our DD's lava lamp so I don't have to scrabble around finding the switch to turn it off!

Other uses:
Lounge lamp
Electric blanket
Slow cooker
Bedroom fan in the summer
Conservatory oil filled radiator
