Echo dot help

Sorry for posting here, there’s probably somewhere more suitable but I can’t find it!

Anyway, we got an echo dot for Xmas and it’s started flashing green. Everything online suggests that this means we are receiving a call, except we aren’t and I’ve disabled that feature as well as the drop in feature.

Any ideas before I just disconnect the stupid thing.

If it's a yellow green ask it what your notifications are.
I learned this by asking it what flashing yellow meant 😁

Oh my god thank you!!!!! Why was that not easier to find out online?!

Thanks so much for this! I didn't even think to ask her Grin. Whilst we have an Echo professional here, do you have any good suggestions for what to with her? I'm already loving the shopping list feature!

The notification is usually that there's something on its way from Amazon and it tells you what it is so if there's someone in the house you have bought a surprise for just cancel the notification. Dd found out what her birthday present was this way!

@BlueBirdGreenFence

Play Pointless, Beat the Intro, quiz games etc
Alarms & reminders
Timers (great when cooking)
Sleep sounds

Does anyone know how to access free music through the echo if I'm a prime member please?

iklboo · 29/12/2019 13:08

I think you just ask her to play the tunes / genre you like?

Eg 'Alexa play 90s indie'

kingkuta · 29/12/2019 13:31

DollyPlastic you just ask her to play the song/artist/genre that you want. There will be some music that you can't access with just your Prime membership. I pay £7.99 a month to upgrade to Prime unlimited which gives you access to all new releases and their full music catalogue. It's well worth the upgrade if you are into your music.

A very timely thread OP. Thanks.

I'm having problems connecting a dot to Philips Hue bulbs. The app says it is aware of them, but fails to connect. I've also asked the dot to find devices but it says there is nothing to find.

All the online help makes it look trivial so I am working on the assumption of either a) defective bulbs (we have 2) or b) defective user (more likely).

Any suggestions please?
