Boring where to park in London question

SouthWestmom · 29/12/2019 10:17

Hi all so we have to go to the Maudesley soon and it looks like parking is v limited (30 spaces). Any ideas for a local car park? Have looked but am failing.

Download the app JustPark.
It will bring up parking at your location or thereabouts and you can book and pay online.

ForalltheSaints · 29/12/2019 11:46

How far is it from the nearest train station? Park outside London and take the train there perhaps.

SouthWestmom · 29/12/2019 13:03

I've tried Just Park but it's all driveways. Train has too many changes. Blue Badge application still waiting (since October) as it's under the new rules.

Download Appy Parking

WhatALump · 29/12/2019 13:09

Depending on which direction you’re coming from I would park at an outlying tube station and tube it in.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 29/12/2019 13:10

There is a Morrison's car park about 10-15 minutes walk from the Maudesley. It's pay and display. I'm not sure if there is a limit on how long you can stay. It's Camberwell Morrison's.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 29/12/2019 13:12

Closest station is Denmark Hill, about 5-10 mins walk. Closest tube is Elephant and Castle which is about 15 mins bus away.

SouthWestmom · 29/12/2019 13:25

Thanks all - train:tube not an option so I really need to find a car park I think.

Justpark means you can book and park on someone’s drive way.

Really simple and guarantees you a space.

Parking in London is like hens teeth and you are turning down everyone’s suggestions.

bookmum08 · 29/12/2019 14:02

It's across the road from King's isn't it? Do they have parking?

peridito · 29/12/2019 14:34

I'm local to Kings/Maudsley .Parking is tricky .

I would recommend parking in Goodrich Rd SE22 near junction with Lordship Lane and catching one of the frequent buses ( 40 ,185,176 ) which run down Lordship Lane and go right past the hospital .Buses heading north towards Camberwell/Victoria/Tottenham Court Rd /Aldgate .

You need to be on opposite side of Lordship Lane to Goodrich Rd .

Ferndene Rd SE24 0AQ might be a possibilty .It has a CPZ but the controlled hours are 12 -2 pm .

peridito · 29/12/2019 14:35

Kings does have parking but forget trying to park there ,it is v limited .

peridito · 29/12/2019 14:45

It used to be possible to park in Fox on the Hill Denmark Hill car park ,with permission from staff but I don't know if that still applies .Guess you could phone ?

Thank you - had family over so couldn't check. Will get in to it tomorrow.
Ninety - not turning down suggestions just saying it has to be by car. Dc has very significant mental health meaning any additional walking or transport may trigger him running off.

Ferndene Road is a short walk away, through Ruskin Park (which is pretty). Free to park, with the exception of 12pm until
2pm, when you pay and display (I take a photo of the location code and telephone number, then set an alarm at 11.55am to call and pay for parking). That's your best option. Car to hospital would take 10 mins.

Alternatively there is the King's College car park and pay and display (hourly, all day) around the hospital. Wait for the car park at peak times is 1hr at least.

ivykaty44 · 29/12/2019 20:15

Blue badge application should be 12 weeks, they have been busy since August when rules changed. I would though chase this though

SouthWestmom · 29/12/2019 20:44

Thank you I'm going to google map and come up with plans a and b tomorrow as I might be able to call as well. I'm nervous about the driveway booking as I've never done this before.

BB has been chased up - it's not under the automatic qualification so is still in for further assessment. I've emailed and rung several times but I think they have had a lot since August in my area.

I think Ferndene rd SE24 0AQ is your best bet .Short simple walk down to the Maudsley .

You might want to register before you leave home so that you can pay by phone for the 12 to 2pm bit .

Hoping the appointment will be helpful and things go as well as this sort of thing can .They are very good at the Maudsley .

AnnaMagnani · 29/12/2019 21:07

Seriously do Justpark.

We had to go to Moorfields recently in the middle of the night. Drove straight there, parked 2 minutes away in a driveway, it was brilliant. Otherwise we'd have just been driving round and round lost in the dark.

I'd never done it before but it was an emergency so I just had to get on with it. All the payment could be done over the phone via the app and the app gives you directions straight to the spot too.

SouthWestmom · 29/12/2019 21:15

Thanks Anna good to hear a recent success. Perdito thank you, I am putting a lot on this

BlouseAndSkirt · 29/12/2019 21:30

You can pay the Fox on the Hill to park in their car park.

BlouseAndSkirt · 29/12/2019 21:30

OP I have PM’d you.

LBOCS2 · 29/12/2019 21:31

Don't rely on the parking at Kings, whatever you do - I've driven around in that car park for an hour waiting for a space before.

OneOfTheGrundys · 29/12/2019 21:33

The Fox or JustPark.
Always use JustPark when driving into London. Driveways are fab.

confusednorthner · 29/12/2019 21:35

I hate driving in London but came down recently and Just Park app was brilliant for us.
