Hello Mumsnet Fifers! We're considering a move to Dunfermline. More space/better house for the money and not far from family. What are the good areas for families. What primary schools would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Lots of good areas I would avoid duloch as it's very nimby also touch is quite ruff.

Commercial, pitreavie and st Leonard's are great primary schools st Margaret's is good but catholic.

Dunfermline high is a great school woodmill used to be great but it is a mess after the fire and is being moved out to halbeath along with st Columbus and the college to 1 big open super campus Angry which is really going to f things up

Ps garvock and pitcorthie are good places to buy

Duloch is ok if you want a mass produced new build. They do have catchment problems though.

Consider areas like Crossford. Nice village. Less than 5 min drive from Dunfermline.

Avoid Abbey View and Touch.

Avoid crossford there is planning permission for 4000 new homes between there and dunfermline, wellwood and town hill.

There is planning all over Dunfermline and most of West Fife. You’d be hard pushed to miss it.

Thanks guys. Good to get peoples feelings about the schools.

True but they are building an estate the size of duloch right by crossford its going to be a massive hassle for the people living there so not great also now in queen Anne catchment

RoaryMouth · 28/12/2019 20:06

There’s a few nice looking houses in the catchment for Bellyeoman Primary and Queen Anne High. Any knowledge on these schools?

Don't bellyeoman is massively oversubscribed and the Robertson rd kids go there and then to queen Anne.
