hi all,

my dd is starting to look forward to the summer break after she has completed her GCSEs (a long way off i know!) and is trying to think about what to do. she has no interest in going to the festivals that seem very popular (Reading for example) and I don't want her going abroad on her own (she is one of the youngest in her year so will have just turned 16) however i would be happy for her to go on one of the culture exchange type trips i have seen. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas? Maybe some volunteer work abroad with some other teens?

TIA x

Mine all did NCS

They also did lifeguard training and started to earn a bit of money

They did still come on our family holiday
They did still go on Explorer camp

They did a fair bit of relaxing / meeting with mates

Orchestra tour.
Volunteering in the local library.
Summer school in his favourite subject.
Prep work for A-levels.

By the time you add in a family holiday and downtime, that was plenty.

Mine did NCS she loved it and it was brilliant value for money.

She did a lot of relaxing and hanging round with friends.

Family holiday.

the NCS camp looks interesting, did your dc do the ones near you @BackforGood @HairyFloppins or did they choose to do one further away? I can see the benefits for both

No, none of my dcs' camps were near us.
The next week (where they stay in University type accommodation) were all in our City.
