Benidorm/Altea/Calpe area

Hello! Heading to Benidorm (cheapest place to use as a base) for a few days at the end of next month with the kids. We've never been before and we want to see as much as possible by public transport. Calpe and Altea are a must, what other towns or villages would be nice to explore? Also wondering if we should spend a day in Valencia?

Calpe, Altea, Villajoyosa and Alicante are all easily reached by tram from Benidorm.
The route runs parts way along the coast and is quite a pleasant ride.
Lots of places to get off along the route and explore.
The local bus number 10 also goes from Benidorm to Altea and costs €1.50 each way and stops in Alfaz and Albir on the way both really nice little places.
There are markets on a Friday in Alfaz and Sunday in Albir.
Bike hire is also very popular and there are a lot of safe cycle routes around the towns.
Cala Finestrat is also a nice walk or bus ride away from Benidorm, market on a Saturday near the beach.
Not a market fan myself but like most Spanish towns the market days tend to add a bit of a buzz to the place.
Lots of walks to the Cross in Benidorm or Lighthouse in Albir, but take your own refreshments.
You can also reach Denia but the service is bus and tram due to ongoing works on the tram line, but all very easy and runs like clockwork.
You would need to go on the express bus or an organised trip to Valencia and it approx 1.5 to 2hrs each way.
