Just that really ... had a very quiet Christmas, a bit skint but have 4 kids age 7-14 and wondering how to get them all out the house to do something fun and not too expensive..
Looking for inspiration

Geocaching? I've never done it myself but people on MN seem to love it! Painting and hiding rocks all around various places is another fun thing...there's a Facebook page where people upload what they find.

We are away for a week in our caravan

We've had a long lie in and now just about to go for a coffee and a mooch in the Oxfam bookshop.

If I needed to entertain kids on a budget and it wasn't raining, I'd make a flask of hot chocolate and take them on a walk, ending with the chipshop! Or maybe a trip to a museum with instructions to hunt for silly things: visible nipples, someone who looks like grandad, something you'd like to take home etc.

I've just cleaned downstairs and found homes for all the presents.
Dh is taking the three younger ones to the park with new scooters and eldest is going to meet her friend in town to spend her Xmas money.
I'm going to actually cook a meal as we've been living on party food and left overs for the few days.

Scottishmummy41 · 28/12/2019 11:39

Thanks all, some good ideas here!

I have joined my DH at his DM for a couple of days. I am sorting out her papers: heating meter readings from 1988 anyone?

On the other hand I have found the original lease taken out by DMIl 's DF in 1926 - they used quality paper then.

DH and I will head out for a Chinese meal later.

Fishcakey · 28/12/2019 11:56

I'm no help, am still in bed! If I was feeling energetic I would put my wellies on and walk the dogs in the woods.

lucysmam · 28/12/2019 12:16

It's dd2's birthday today; both she and dd1 are having a friend to sleep over so we're waiting for them to arrive any time now.

I'm going to clean the kitchen a bit (mountain of pots to wash up) then maybe rough plan next term for my Rainbows and Guides, depending on what the girls decide to do :)

BabyBlue31 · 28/12/2019 13:07

We’re going swimming. DD is very grumpy after 4 days of celebrations.

midsomermurderess · 28/12/2019 14:09

I was shattered yesterday and went to be madly early and slept almost through to 10am. Got up, tidied round a bit and then headed off to the post office to return a couple of things. Now just reading at home. I am trying to get it into my head that I will swim tomorrow.

dementedma · 28/12/2019 14:11

Bored stiff so still in bed. Our swimming pool is closed for the holidays which is helpful. I seriously hate this post Christmas time of year but dont go back to work until Jan 3rd!

SimonJT · 28/12/2019 14:13

Going home after xmas, I have loved my time away, but looking forward to my own bed and giving the cat a good cuddle

milliefiori · 28/12/2019 14:13

I'm doing DIY jobs. It's my new passion. A monring in B&Q and an afternoon caulking the bathroom. Bliss. But maybe not what you had in mind! Grin

Lordfrontpaw · 28/12/2019 14:14

I’m tidying, clearing up and doing the accounts 🙄🙁😱😳🍷🍷🍷🍩

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 28/12/2019 16:38

We took the kids to the park and then went to Sainsbury's to buy cake and party food for DS3 birthday tomorrow.

Dh and dc now tidying up a bit while I sit shivering on the sofa feeling sorry for myself. I think I have tonsillitis ☹️

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/12/2019 16:48

When we came out of the restaurant I saw a poster for a Hans Baldung Grien exhibition. So I let DH go home on his own and spent two hours enjoying myself.

Giggorata · 28/12/2019 16:56

Drove back from Christmas with family yesterday, dossed round this morning and did a wedding this afternoon. (I'm a Registrar)
The house is a tip, so gotta get busy tomorrow.

Ithinkwerealonenowtiffany · 28/12/2019 17:02
