In November I stayed at a hotel for 2 nights. I paid on check in.

1 week later the money was returned to my card.

I phoned the hotel and spoke to a manager. He was as puzzled as I was. He thanked me for calling. said he'd investigate and ring me back.

That was over 4 weeks ago.

Should I call again for leave it be?

I'd put the money in another account so that I didn't spend it and leave it at that. You've made them aware, that's all you can do Smile

I’d leave it now
But I’d make sure I still have that amount in my account for a while just Incase it goes back out

I’d leave it. You were honest enough to try to sort it out but if they still can’t get their act together then I’d see it as a freebie.

I would put something in writing to close it off, ie put the facts as you've outlined in your post in a letter or email to the hotel, leaving the matter in their hands. Then, either the manager isn't that bothered to sort it out and shrugs it off as you getting a free stay, or they'll take the money you owe from your card.

I suppose you could specify a deadline (say a week) for them to resolve it before you consider the matter closed and nothing is owed. That way, if some accountant follows it up in six months, you've got a paper trail to show you tried reasonably to resolve it.
