OMG it is so funny, I’d forgotten it how brilliant it is.

It's great, isn't it.

DS started to watch it - but thought it needed a laughter track. We had a little debate about laughter tracks and the different kinds of humour.

He really liked it. I might have spoilt it a bit by bringing up some of the themes in it.

He has seen them all in a big binge watch. Great show.

YorkieTheRabbit · 28/12/2019 09:56

Sister Michael makes me howl 😂😂

wakemewhenitsallover · 28/12/2019 10:00

It's brilliant! Also binge re-watching since I saw the cast are on a Bake Off special soon.

Canned laughter?! No way! Are there really people out there who think canned laughter improves shows? Why? Confused

CormoranStrike · 28/12/2019 10:27

Sister Michael is amazing.

Having gone to a Catholic school myself so much of this resonates, especially the meet up with the Protestant school.

Sister Michael’s face when she sees the priest at the Prod school meet up. A thing of wonder!

bastedyoungturkey · 28/12/2019 11:02

I started binge watching it last night too. Properly making me giggle.

NormaLouiseBates · 28/12/2019 11:15

Loved this, binged it in a couple of days!

God no to the canned laughter... I can't stand that. I've switched off things I really fancied watching because of the annoying noise of it.

ForalltheSaints · 28/12/2019 11:28

It is very well written especially given the time and place it is set in. Lovely to see Tommy Tiernan as well whom I had not seen for years.

motorcyclenumptiness · 28/12/2019 12:19

For the Sister Michael fans Crown Smile

TheTruthAboutLove · 28/12/2019 12:59

I hadn’t ever watched it and my friend told me to. The first time I watched I was a bit meh, but now I understand the characters and how they behave it’s brilliant comedy. It definitely doesn’t need canned laughter! I can’t wait for series 3 to come out, Clare and Michelle are my favourites by far!

CormoranStrike · 28/12/2019 13:14

I love Michelle, Orla and sister Michael

Its very funny.... some great one liners 'dont you find it really sexy how much they hate us' (discussing the protestant boys) Grin

SenecaFalls · 28/12/2019 22:01

I just discovered this and am in the middle of the second series. It is really good. Love Sister Michael ("Free rent is one of the reasons I became a nun. Grin)

GertyTheGert · 29/12/2019 00:12

Love love LOVE it! A fella at work told me about it and its the best thing on tv (well, alongside Would I Lie To You)!!!!

Scautish · 29/12/2019 00:13

I’ve just started binge watching it too and it’s awesome. Sister Michael is just brilliant.

managedmis · 29/12/2019 01:52

If you were at secondary school in the 90's, you'll relate to it. So funny.

MadisonAvenue · 29/12/2019 11:48

It's absolutely brilliant, I can't choose a favourite character although Aunt Sarah and Sister Michael are up there.

I just wish that Netflix would add season 2. It's a pain having to watch on Channel 4's catch up.

CmdrCressidaDuck · 29/12/2019 12:00

I was born in NI at about the same time as Erin and this show IS my childhood (except much fucking funnier, obviously).

There ain't no eyeroll like a Sister Michael eyeroll.

I went to school with at least four Michelles and one or two Jenny Joyces. (DH and I now say to each other regularly, "You will go far in life, Jenny. But you will not be well liked.")

And then it can bring you to tears. Michelle telling James she wants him to stay. Poor James's emotional scars from his shitty selfish mother. Joe putting a gentle hand on Gerry's shoulder. Gut punch every time. It all works because it genuinely comes from the characters.

Slainte, motherfuckers!

BrokenLogs · 29/12/2019 12:05

It's very funny!I also really like Young Offenders.

Dh is Irish, so I get a lot of the humour as an Aussie. My cousin who lived in Ireland with me for a while also thinks it's great.

Weirdomagnet · 29/12/2019 12:07

LOVE it😂 reminds me of my BF's rellies

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 29/12/2019 12:09

Absolutely brilliant Crown Smile

DS kept making me watch bits and I laughed so much I binged the whole thing

Marmite27 · 29/12/2019 12:11

I cried with laughter at the take that concert episode.

Different tears for the talent show.

Brilliant tv.
