Stoopid question: National Trust membership cards

KittenVsXmastree · 27/12/2019 21:29

My parents have kindly bought us a years family membership for the National Trust. Just gone to put the cards in my /DHs wallet, and it says " Please bring all cards with you for free entry". If I take the kids on my own, do I need DHs card with me??

No, only your own card and the kids if they are old enough to need cards.

How old are the kids? Do they have their own cards. It probably will mean you just have to take them for whoever's visiting a NT place e.g. if you and DS visit but only having DS's card, that wouldn't be right

No, it just means that both adults need a card to get in, you can't get two adults in on one card.

ElluesPichulobu · 27/12/2019 21:46

younger kids don't get their own cards but if you have family membership they will be allowed in on the card of whichever parent is with them. if you go as a family with all of you there, they will be grumpy with you if only one of the adults remembers their card but they will probably let you in anyway.

What cards have you got?

KittenVsXmastree · 27/12/2019 22:08

Just 2 cards sent - kids are in primary school.
Every adult needing their own card for entry is fine. I was more worried that all cards would be needed even when one card holder was absent.

Thank you.

No, tbf they are very relaxed on entry, I filled in a renewal once that got lost in their system and ended up entering for several months without a card before I phoned up and confirmed that the renewal form was indeed lost and did another! This was a couple of years ago though they may have tightened up!

We are members but more than once have forgotten to take cards. They just looked us up and let us in.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 28/12/2019 14:39

If you forget the cards they can ring HO and confirm you are members.

If you go without your DH you only need your card. Are the children on your cards? If you have a family membership. They are only free entry up to 5years .

Even if you forget your card, they just ask your name and address and look it up on the computer database. I've never got mine in my purse 😂

At places with car parks, you do need your card to print a parking ticket though.
