  • The Labour Party to have a female leader.
  • 2nd IndyRef announced for Scotland but not to be held til 2022.
  • UK to be in a major recession by the end of the year, with the pound very weak against other currencies.
  • Small fall in house prices/slowdown in the market.
  • Trend towards using less plastic to continue with big brands getting in on it, a major supermarket might launch a bagless dry food section.
  • People flying less due to lack of money/environmental stigma.
  • Benefit cuts/more sanctions, generally life getting tougher for the poorest.
  • The selling off of a major component of the NHS.
  • Korean food to be the trendy thing.
  • More 90s fashion revivals. I knoe it's 80s but is it too soon for perms to reappear?

I suspect Boris might alienate some of the cabinet/Tory party but think he'll survive a vote of no confidence.

Prince Phillip to die, I think this might weaken the queen and suspect that she will hand more of her duties over to price Charles and the Cambridges.

Donald Trump to be sadly re-elected.

Interest rates to stay low as the Bank of England tries desperately to keep things afloat in the wake of Brexit.

Prince Harry and Meghan to announce a second pregnancy and move further out of the limelight.

Victoria and David beckham to split up.

England to have an abysmal time at the euros and get knocked out in the group stages.

Fashion wise...

I think grunge will return.. baggy trousers, heavy eye make up smudged, chains etc...switched up with platform heels and blazers too.

Curiy hair in definitely, I too can see perms making a comeback!

Also lace, following on from the high collars of this year.

ManonBlackbeak · 27/12/2019 20:04

Another baby for Harry and Meghan

Liverpool win Premier League

Ithinkwerealonenowtiffany · 27/12/2019 22:29

Prince Philip to die

Wales to win the Euros

Can’t think of more🤨

everythingisginandroses · 27/12/2019 22:54

"...and it's so lonely on a limb..."

MissSueFlay · 27/12/2019 23:14

The UK will leave the EU in 2020, but Brexit won't 'get done', there will be an extension to the transition period (requested by either the UK or EU) and the whole thing will just drag on and on...

Harry & Megan will announce 2nd baby

UK will have the wettest summer on record, with below average temperatures
(DH predicts a dry, but freakishly cold summer!)

Trump will be re-elected as President of US

Labour elect Rebecca Long Bailey as leader.
I hope a new centrist party starts to take shape, but that might not happen next year...

High Streets will continue to suffer, at least one major retail brand collapses

GB canes last in Eurovision Song Contest after being shunned by Euro-voters following Brexit. The song (sung by Robbie Williams) goes to #1 in all major European countries.

ManonBlackbeak · 27/12/2019 23:23

If Wales win the Euro's ill eat my hat! Im Welsh, would love it to happen but just cant see it. I think they will do well and probably go further that people expect and possibly further than England, but there's no way they will win.

I agree Brexit will take years to get properly 'done', but for whatever reason Leavers really struggle to accept this concept.

Cinammoncake · 28/12/2019 01:15

Boris Johnson's girlfriend will get pregnant

People will stop buying as many clothes and become aware of its impact on the environment, that'll become as much a no-go as carrier bags has

Cambridges will have another baby (and Harry & Meghan will)

Jess Phillips will become leader of Labour Party

England will win the Euros but we'll realise everyone hates us now so it's a hollow victory

Sadiq Khan will get re-elected as London Mayor

IggyAce · 28/12/2019 15:40

Prince Philip will die.
Debenhams will collapse.
Anthony Hopkins will die.
Use of food banks will increase.

Verily1 · 28/12/2019 15:55

Slug eyebrows to die a death

A high profile skin cancer death from sun beds- them banned and pale skin to become trendy

A constitutional crisis when queenie pops her clogs and the family fight over who wins the daft hat whilst the plebs riot for a republic

Universal credit to change so non working mums have to look for work after one year to equalise with working mums on mat leave

More people to die from social security cuts but this to never be on the news

Trump re-elected

Labour female leader andback to chasing mondeo man- is that now quashqui millennial?

Hottest summer ever and start of revival of seaside U.K. resorts

Disposable coffee cups to have 5p charge

More high street chains to disappear

Poetry sales to go up

Life expectancy to go down

ForalltheSaints · 28/12/2019 16:05

A trade deal with the EU will not have been concluded.
Donald Trump will be elected for a second term as US President.

MurrayTheMonk · 28/12/2019 16:14

Prince Andrew will be further disgraced (if that's possible).
Something awful will happen to both Katie Price and Caroline Flack (these two need help urgently I think-they both seem very unwell to me).
All the magazines will say skinny jeans are dead and flares are in. Everyone will continue to wear skinny jeans.
The rest of the winter will be wet and warm. Lots of flooding.
The summer will be wet. Lots more flooding.
Brexit will happen, and everyone but the very rich will feel the pinch but no one will have either the energy (remainers) or the gall (leavers) to complain about it.

ginghambox · 28/12/2019 17:51

Rebecca Wrong Daily to be labour leader. And give the Tories 10 more years.
Des O'Connor, Jimmy Tarbuck , Vera Lynn and Dick Van Dyke will die.
Trump will be re-elected.

Liverpool win Premier League
I bloody hope not. we will never hear the end of it.

everythingisginandroses · 28/12/2019 18:13

Of course Liverpool will win the Premier League, and get out their 'Scousers Hate Tories' banner again. Thanks, that's cheered me up.

lljkk · 05/01/2020 07:10

Ah well, I'm gonna try.

Trump will LOSE.

Cambridges will NOT have another baby (nor in future).

Crazy weather will continue to happen all over world.

Some kind of last minute BINO deal at end of 2020.

No more nurses than current trajectory.

Financial markets will be dominated by stories about rising commodity prices (basic foods, gold, oil, timber, etc.)

A lot of pressure to destroy the BBC.

Immigration will be in the news more than ever; immigration figures to UK will spike upwards (not EU origin, of course)

Hohohomerrychristmash · 12/12/2020 11:06

Sorry maybe iabu in resurrecting a zombie thread but some of us were way wrong. And some of us are slightly psychic Hmm

nosswith · 12/12/2020 12:40

Well sadly Des O'Connor and Dame Vera Lynn have died, RIP.

Some of the others do make me laugh given how the year has turned out.

Igotjelly · 12/12/2020 12:44

Yes, not one person said world wide pandemic 😂😂

Igotjelly · 12/12/2020 12:45

Shock but someone did predict something horrible for Caroline Flack! To be fair not sure how I didn't see that one coming.

TeenyTinyDustinHoffman · 12/12/2020 12:52

People got Debenhams, Caroline Flack and the Boris Baby, that's pretty impressive.

PicsInRed · 12/12/2020 12:57

Love this thread revival!

Korean food to be the trendy thing.

Like the Aussie forest fires, it emerged that this would not be a focal point of 2020. In the end, the Scotch Egg took it. Xmas Grin

BlueTit4xmas · 12/12/2020 13:02

MM and Hazza ALMOST had a baby, so that was pretty close!

JaneJeffer · 12/12/2020 13:03

People flying less due to lack of money/environmental stigma
Or a pandemic maybe?
