Nintendo supermario maker 2

Ds got this for Christmas, age rating is 3+. He’s asking for a subscription to use course world having already cost £50 for the game itself. The subscription would be £18 per year. It also allows him to interact with other users, (does not sound like a good idea to me!) any experienced gamers/ parents got any advice for me? Really not happy about the hidden cost and very unhappy about the online interaction for one so young!

Mario maker is a waste of time without online play. It allows you to upload courses you have made for others to play and also play courses others have made. It's the main point of the game.

I think the subscription is for Nintendo switch online. Do you have amazon prime? We got our nintendo switch online free from that.

Dh has this game and is a Nintendo nerd. He says if you don't have an online subscription you do miss out on a large aspect of the game.

He also says Nintendo are known for being better than most at making sure their online controls are very tight and you can't communicate with people not on your friends list etc. A lot of people moan at Nintendo for not allowing free chat etc.

If you have any other questions I can put them to him. Dd aged 5 enjoys playing with him creating her own worlds and playing random people's (what you need the online bit for).

This really pissed me off. Ds had Mario maker 1. Absolutely adored it, shared his levels with friends and visa Versa. I’ve always been a big fan of Nintendo, but I think they are taking the piss with the subscription.
Their games are expensive, let alone adding a subscription to actually play it properly.
In hindsight the games a massive waste of money and never gets played because of the subscription.

It’s a shame, ds really liked the 1st

Glad I never got this for my DS who were asking for it. They do play on the Nintendo a lot but there is not a farts chance in hell I'm letting them play it online.

They just upload and download courses. I’m pretty anal about online interaction but nintendo has it locked down tight.

We do have prime but I’m getting a “no longer available” message. Thanks so much for finding it for me, though.
