New mumsnetter but in a bit of a spin coz I’m convinced there is something wrong with our next 2 me and it’s a death trap. In front of the flap that folds down there is a foam flap that is sewn in, that comes about half the height of the flap. I’m not sure if it’s meant to be there, but I’m worried by 7 week old could get her head over it and it would end up cutting off her air supply.
I’ve been watching YouTube videos and it doesn’t seem to be on anyone else’s cot. I did think OH constructed it wrongly but it’s sewn in so I’m not sure where else it could go. It seems to half block the mesh panel at the side, and also comes up about 10cm meaning that there is always a barrier between the cot mattress and ours so it kind of defeats the purpose of side sleeping.
I’m sitting up stressing and don’t want to go to sleep in case she spins and her head gets stuck. It wasn’t an issue before but now she’s moving in her sleep it’s really worrying me. I’ve got the side panel up so it’s just a normal cot, but even then the inside lining says so badly she could easily get her head caught. I’ve got pictures but not sure I can post them as a new poster.
