Small town in the North, 5 shops open.

Yesterday (Christmas day) we went to our DD for lunch. Walking home later we have to pass a few shops and 5 of these were open. One of which was a Co-op.
And we were passed by a couple of taxis.
Were any shops open near you.

I'm at the age where I can remember nothing was open on Christmas and Boxing Days.

Lots of people aren’t Christians so don’t celebrate this particular festival. With other shops shut and methods of transport unavailable, it’s probably worth their while to open. I’d do the same in I lived in a country with a religious holiday which I didn’t share. It’s no biggie.

The staff in the co-op all celebrate Christmas, I know most of the staff who work there.

Nothing open here but I suppose so many people are not Christian and life/ work continues as normal. I grew up in London and our local shop was always open.

Im 40 and the convenience shop in my small Northern town was open on Christmas day, probably more but that's the one I drive past on the way to grans.

Pubs used to open and yes taxis although it was (is?) Expensive.

I know people working over Christmas because the money is good and they aren't that fussed about it.

Ilkley this morning. Booths (surprisingly), Boots, Costa, Caffe Nero, Co-op and Jigsaw all open. That's just the ones I've seen so far.
