I just flipped my lid and banged on the wall at the neighbours

They’ve been blasting music through the wall for 2 days. I’m not brave enough to ask them to turn the music down. I went out yesterday as it was winding me up so much.

Had it all this morning. We ate our Xmas dinner listening to their Michael Buble Xmas music. Then it started up again today and it’s so loud I can hear it upstairs in my bedroom at the other side of the house even when I have the tv on. Downstairs it’s deafening.

I know it would be more mature if I’d gone and rung the doorbell and asked them but I have anxiety about those sort of situations. Much easier to bang on the wall with the pepper grinder. They banged back! But have turned the music down. Just worried about seeing them again now!

I have done the same before with old neighbours, except they likes to blast heavy metal music. I used to go around and ask them to turn it down all the time but they stopped answering the door to me as it was a weekly occurrence so I took to hammering the walls on occasion, it worked though and they would turn it down 🤷🏼‍♀️

EvaHarknessRose · 25/12/2019 20:55

It worked 🤷 and they don't know if it was you or one of your guests. Don't stress

Yes, I might blame dd and deny all knowledge. 😄

I did this today, as the neighbours got on with some DIY whilst we were all trying to nap. DIY?! It's not even their live-in home (Landlords) so goodness knows why they chose Christmas Day to do that?! I'm pretty sure the banging went unheard, which I'm quite glad about 🙈

I mean, I would have started with a conversation but feck it, it worked!!!

If they're utter twats, get a decent speaker, turn it to the wall and turn up something... as a student my preferred was always classical. I seemed to get the best results from the planets suite 😂

Don't stress about banging on the wall.
I've done it when my neighbours row.
We still say hello.

I remember when I was a young teenager being woken up by our neighbour having sex. Unfortunately his bedroom was next to mine and the walls were so thin I could hear him sneeze. When he bought his girlfriend home and woke me at 3am with her very loud sex wails I was not impressed (and was a tad traumatised age 13).

I lost it one night and banged on the wall. It stopped and he actually put the house on the market and moved out shortly afterwards Shock

Dh told me to blast music back at them but then I didn’t feel I could complain about them playing music if I was doing the same.

I think it’s the adult kids doing it who don’t normally live at home.....but surely on Xmas day the parents must be there? I think they have a speaker in the kitchen wall which is the only room downstairs they have which adjoins our house. Which is bloody thoughtless. I can hear every question they ever ask Alexa as it booms through the wall! I might try and pluck the courage up and suggest they move it to the far wall (no neighbour) or even better their living room or extension (also no neighbours).

If you can hear their Alexa instructions maybe Alexa will hear yours and you can turn their music off by shouting "Alexa off" Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 25/12/2019 22:11

Sadly for that idea voices don’t seem to travel through the wall. I can’t hear what they ask Alexa but can hear what Alexa says back so while it’s obvious what they’re asking I don’t think it would hear me. Am bloody tempted to try! 😄

I had this once so I put DH magnetic speaker on the boiler next to the wall at full blast shook the whole house with some rather unique tastes in music
They had the audacity to bang on the wall
I left it on for a while
Didn't have a problem again Grin

Our neighbours were blasting chavvy music at 2am this morning, I assumed he was high so blasted baby shark back at him at 7am.
