Will Boots exchange??

Fully realise this is not earth shattering news but...

Lovely DH presented me this morning with a big glass jar of 'Coco' body creme. Exactly what I was hoping for after dropping many unsubtle hints!

Opened the pot took a sniff and realised it wasn't Coco. Looked closely at box and realised it was 'Coco Noir'. Whilst I don't mind the scent I wouldn't have chosen it and at £75 am a bit disappointed.

DH is upset; he said he specifically asked for original 'Coco' as he knows there are different versions but as the box packaging is so similar ('Noir' just in tiny script under 'Coco') that he didn't even notice when the sales assistant put it in the bag.

My question is are Boots likely to exchange it? DH still has the receipt but as I took a whiff (although no cellophane on box) will they refuse?

Slightly suspicious that they sold him 'Noir' hoping he wouldn't notice, as stocks on the original were really low (he had a bit of nightmare tracking it down.

If he asked for the original and they gave him something else, pretty sure it counts as miselling, so even if you had broken cellophane, they should exchange.

Unfortunately I think you'd be extremely lucky to get anywhere. Especially as it has been opened, they are not going to be able to restock and resell that

It didn't have any cellophane on box Confused

If you've got a receipt I think you've got a good chance!! They will probably harp on about it being a gesture of good Will but still do the deal 😁

I used to work in Boots, if you've got the receipt you'll be fine! Just explain the situation and they'll either swap it for the correct one or give you a refund

I do wonder if it was on purpose... I asked for Acqua di parma Iris Nobile 2 or 3 years ago, unwrapped on Christmas morning to find a slightly grubby no cellophane box with a leather purse spray of it with v little perfume for the money. I marched into House of Fraser after Christmas prepared for war, was polite but firm, and it was exchanged immediately by a slightly shamefaced and embarrassed assistant. I always wondered if they'd tried to pull a fast one on gormless husband in a rush...

They are two different colours as well (the boxes).

As previous poster said, be polite but firm, not apologetic and although you're expecting any other outcome than them correcting their mistake x

Thank you!! Am bolstered now and will take a trip into Boots!
