Get yourself a lovely indulgent shower and order take out! You will definitely feel a lot better Wine

user1469989812 · 25/12/2019 13:40

I'm on my own, through choice though as I'm just not feeling festive after a recent miscarriage and don't want to ruin others day with my misery.

I'm on the sofa with my new pjs, new fluffy duvet, my cats, wine, Pringles and Netflix. Plan to have a nice bath later with candles and my favorite music and then order in an Indian takeaway.

I'm loving it to be honest. Lots of tears this morning before my partner went to his families (mine are too far away to get to), but feel like I have all my feeling sorry for myself out my system now.

I hope you're doing ok, merry Christmas Xmas Wink.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 25/12/2019 13:40

I'm on my own Ohdear. It was anticipated and I'm ok with it. But everyone reacts differently to being alone at Christmas. I'm sorry you are feeling down about it.

I'm planning just to have a low-key day not doing much.

What would you like to be doing?

DisplayPurposesOnly · 25/12/2019 13:45

Happily alone here. Made myselglff a nice breakfast. Had a shower. Just relaxing with pets now, contemplating lunch. Got some washing on Grin

Get yourself in the shower. Sounds like you are punishing yourself and you definitely don't need to do that.

Ohdear3 · 25/12/2019 13:46

I would like to be with friends but..

OP posts:
Thehagonthehillwithtinsel · 25/12/2019 13:47

I knew I would be on my own, first time in years.
I became resigned to it.So will cookyself a Christmas diner, watch TV,fairy lights on.
I have to work tonight so can have alcohol which will reduce the self pity.
I am still in my dressing gown too.I may shower and dress soon, cooking in night wear is not going to happen.
I have the same for the next three days but since it must be am going to have the best time I can.

Ohdear3 · 25/12/2019 13:49

Did you feel you couldn't impose on friends?

Ohdear3 · 25/12/2019 13:51

Iprefergin · 25/12/2019 13:51

I'm on my own today too.

This was supposed to be my best Christmas yet. It should have been my first as a mother. But sadly it wasnt to be.

I'm getting better but couldn't face seeing people today.

However, the difference that having a shower, brushing your teeth and putting some clean pjs on has is incredible. I've even sprayed my 'good' perfume. Please do it then watch some silly tv, eat nice food and talk to me on here xx

cantthinkofanythingwitty · 25/12/2019 13:52

My DJ is in the armed forces and away so it's just me and dog for xmas dinner today.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 25/12/2019 13:53

I agree with Ohdear, user1469989812, you are being very selfless in the circumstances. Flowers

cantthinkofanythingwitty · 25/12/2019 13:53

DH not DJ Grin

Ohdear3 · 25/12/2019 13:53

I made sure I made the effort to shower, shove a tiny bit of make up on. Comfy clothes, sofa, beer, I'm going to make the best of a bad situation.

Ohdear3 · 25/12/2019 13:56

@iprefergin 👍🥂😊

@user1469989812 I thought I'd replied to you but it's not showing.

I'm very new to posting here so may be doing something wrong...

We seem to be in very similar situations :( and have the same day planned xx.

If you're like me its definitely a rollercoaster of feeling fine one minute then sad/angry the next.

But we will get through it xxx

JazzyJelly · 25/12/2019 14:10

Hugs for all. I have a bottle of prosecco (mostly gone), my favourite pizza (ditto), and I'm going to read my favourite book and fall asleep on the sofa. It can be a nice day, no matter what we're all going through. We'll survive, and there will be better Christmases coming.

Ohdear3 · 25/12/2019 14:29

My kids are with the ex today, so I'm.... decorating. I kid you not!

Having fun listening to the radio and sanding down the skirting boards. I'll not see anyone all day so paint can dry without me worrying who will smudge it and no need to dress in anything other than one of my favourite old T-shirts!

It's just a day, make of it what you want rather than what others think it should be.

Ohdear3 · 26/12/2019 16:54

How did you all get on? I was mired in self pity the whole bloody time = huge fail

OP posts:
Fishcakey · 26/12/2019 16:56

I was on my own last year and really enjoyed it. The day is what you make it.

Iprefergin · 26/12/2019 17:02

I was ok
Time spent here on MN taught me its maybe not that bad being alone...

user1469989812 · 26/12/2019 18:02

Sorry only just seen your reply Iprefergin, I'm very sorry to hear you're in a similar situation but am glad you managed to get through yesterday ok. I'm weirdly feeling more sad about it all today but binge watching the new series of a show i like and eating chocolate to get through to bed time Smile. As you say it is very up and down at the moment. x
