Today is going to be a long day

DS aged 6 woke at 1am and still hasn't managed to go back to sleep. I've been in to him so many times, he's trying his best but just can't sleep.

I just know today is ruined. I've got a banging headache, and had a total of 2 hours sleep. I'll be grumpy from lack of sleep and DS will be an overtired wreck by lunchtime Sad

Anyone else in the same boat?

Yes he still cant sleep up since three but he didnt get to sleep till eleven? I'm knackered

fligglepige · 25/12/2019 04:41

Can you both go for a nap after present opening?

CherryPlum · 25/12/2019 04:53

Oh dear, we had a Christmas Day like that once when our DC were little. Bloody awful it was! Poor kids, it's not great for them either but they just can't help it with all the build-up and excitement.

These days it's my own sleep patterns that are messed up (thanks to peri-menopause) so I'm always awake in the early hours, while my teenage DC are peacefully sleeping!

I really hope you manage a bit of a nap later. You have my sympathies - it's a case of muddling your way through the day.

Same here - eldest came in at 1:30am and finally went back to sleep then the baby woke up. Then eldest woke up again at 4am and is still awake and arguing to go downstairs. I'm exhausted but like you I know he can't help it so trying not to get mad Sad

Same, incessant coughing woke my 4 year old at around 4am. Brought him in my bed so he didn’t wake his brother and now we’re both awake.

I’ve packed DH off into DS’s bed as one tired parent is MUCH better than two (speak from experience Xmas Hmm). I’m hoping for a nap later!

Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Grin

PristineCondition · 25/12/2019 05:46

Yep we are up.
The nine year old is being extra loud to try and wake his 17 year old brother 😱

SpoonSpoon · 25/12/2019 05:53

Yep - teething baby up since 2 Sad

turnthebiglightoff · 25/12/2019 06:09

Same here. Poorly 8 month old means we've all had 2 hours sleep. We're hosting for 8 and I just want to stay in bed all day. 5 hour drive to the in laws first thing tomorrow too. Fml.

Sharonthetotallyinsane · 25/12/2019 06:13

18 month old up at 5.30; just sent the older ones back upstairs. I can’t face conversation yet.

Kittykat93 · 25/12/2019 06:18

I've been up since 4 with my 2year old. Feel knackered already can't believe it's not even half six yet

Drogonssmile · 25/12/2019 06:22

I've had DS2 (3) in bed with me since 9pm and he's been rolling around kicking me and coughing his lungs up at every opportunity. (chest infection on anti bs) and had the bloody loud humidifier on. Meanwhile DH has a lovely uninterrupted sleep in the spare bed. Angry DS1 tried to get in with me at 2am but at least he went back to bed when I asked him. Going to be a loooooong day. Brew to all.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 25/12/2019 07:04

Up since 2am here 😫

Spotty528 · 25/12/2019 07:09

Same here, dc fell asleep at 10.30-up at 3.30 and he’s 10!! Thankfully he won’t become and overtired wreck now that he’s older-I will though!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 25/12/2019 07:11

Got to sleep around 0100, woken up by neighbour's 4 yo at 0600. I've just heard him ask his mum if Santa has brought his new sister, which has made me feel all wobbly.

DorotheaHam · 25/12/2019 07:18

Got to sleep just after midnight, DD woke me at 3am. She was good and quiet in bed, but I couldn't sleep again.

Feel dead.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 25/12/2019 07:21

It'll be fine, Christmas day is the day of no sleep. I never sleep well but always have a great day. Take some pain killers, grab a tea / coffee and maybe try to nap if u want too after presents

babbi · 25/12/2019 07:23

Up most of the night feeling very poorly myself !!
There’s been flu 🤧 going round at work so I fear the worse 😱

Have laid out Santa’s offerings so will just lie quietly until others wake ... teenagers and adults so probably not too early .

Merry Xmas all x
