Trying to attach the picture...but I don't think my ancient phone can do that

How lovely!

CadburyFlake · 24/12/2019 18:36

That's nice. Large volumes singing is uplifting somehow.

Wow. Are you the queen or the pope?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/12/2019 18:40

I'd imagine the op is at the carols on Bourneville green? @BournvilleGreen

We've just been to our local ones and now feeling very festive!

BournvilleGreen · 24/12/2019 18:41

Xmas Grin I would hope more than 1000 would sing to the Pope!

I'm in Bournville, it's very magical right now.

Brain is waiting for the baileys to kick in. Xmas Smile

FredaFrogspawn · 24/12/2019 18:43

That looks like such a nice place to live. Is it as community minded as it was built to be?

BournvilleGreen · 24/12/2019 18:45

Hi CadburyFlake- are you nearby?

DH is too ill to go outside, so we're enjoying it in the warm and dry, whilst supper cooks.

Freda I don't know about the whole of BVT, but my neighbours are all very lovely. Friends who live on another bit also have great neighbours. The Christmas light switch on was very well attended, and also tonight was.

BournvilleGreen · 24/12/2019 18:47

There's certainly lots going on here, not just at Christmas.

OP posts:
FredaFrogspawn · 24/12/2019 18:49

It was built by quakers I think?

BournvilleGreen · 24/12/2019 18:59

Yes, the Cadbury family. There is a Quaker meeting house right on the green, and a CofE church too.

The carillon is now playing All I Want For Christmas Smile

How lovely; I grew up there and went to that very school so bringing back lovely memories.

BournvilleGreen · 24/12/2019 19:30

Oh that's lovely! Was it three classes a year when you were there? It seems like a very big school to me.

OP posts:
Themarvellousmrsm · 24/12/2019 20:32

Gosh I can't really remember BournvilleGreen - I left in 1978 to go to 'big school' so its was several lifetimes ago.

When dmil was still alive we occasionally did a drive through for old time's sake but not been for a number of years - lots of changes but Bournville still has a nice feel to it.

HornsOfADilemma01 · 24/12/2019 20:35

@BournvilleGreen, I was one of them.....it's my Christmas Eve ritual, absolutely love it! Merry Christmas

BournvilleGreen · 24/12/2019 20:37

Merry Christmas Horns! Wine

OP posts:
BournvilleGreen · 24/12/2019 20:38

Will you be at midnight mass too?

OP posts:
HornsOfADilemma01 · 24/12/2019 22:50

@BournvilleGreen Wine Cheers! No, I didn't realise there was a midnight mass. Where's that held? Mind you, I'm not sure I could stay up that late Smile and my partner doesn't "do" religion. I'm always surprised when he agrees to come to Carols on the Green Wink

BournvilleGreen · 24/12/2019 23:30

It's at St Francis', begins at 11:15... but I was still wrapping for tomorrow. I've finished finally.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2019 23:32

We usually go but didn't make it there tonight.

CoolCarrie · 24/12/2019 23:53

That sounds absolutely wonderful, what a great tradition you are very lucky.
Happy Christmas Bournville
