'I did enough as a mother'

This is a quote from the mother of Alfie Lamb.

Despite being sentenced to 2yrs and 9 months she is nowhere from prison. This is what she said about how she raised her son, who died asking for his mummy while she watched her boyfriend crish him to death in his car.

I'm utterly dumb struck. No remorse at all.

I know its Christmas but I hope she feels fear and terror everyday for the rest of her miserable existence.

That should say she has been released from prison - not nowhere!

It's the biggest lie ever, the 'I'm a good mum' lie. And women of her ilk spout it as infinitum. Has to be VERY gently challenged and even then, it will still be someone else's fault.

ShinyNewNameTimeAgain · 24/12/2019 17:11

I don’t know if it’s her way of coping with the guilt, to tell herself that she was a good mum. Maybe she genuinely believes it. I don’t really care tbh, as long as she never has responsibility for another poor child.

VanyaHargreeves · 24/12/2019 17:15

I let an abuser who hated my son so much he eventually killed him into a prominent position in our lives.

I was a good enough Mum

Yes, OK then

Freshprincess · 24/12/2019 17:18

She hasn't even done the bare minimum, she's not even close to 'enough'.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 24/12/2019 17:29

It's just shocking. I'm so sad about it.

I read that article and felt sick. That poor child was failed so much! You cannot claim you did enough when you put your child at risk in that way. Her partner sounded vile and she sounded like she was scared of him, but she was in the car and had responsibility towards her child.

The only positive thing was that she said she needed to focus on herself before even thinking of a possible future family, and I think that’s very sensible.

Fairylea · 24/12/2019 17:52

I was so sad reading this. She was a shit mother and did not protect her son.

beautifulstranger101 · 24/12/2019 17:58

Well of course she'd say that. If she accepts what she did it means admitting to herself that she is a monster.
Noone in prison ever takes responsibility for their actions. Not a single one. Ive worked in a few forensic units and the excuses I heard were pathetic- "its not my fault- my parents did xyz", "she made me angry- she made me do it", "I had no choice - she wouldn't shut up" etc etc
I dont think I ever heard a single person say "I did it, I shouldn't have done, and I'm so sorry".

Jumpi · 24/12/2019 18:01

Why was she released?

mbosnz · 24/12/2019 18:04

She's an utter failure as a mother, and I wish having her made permanently unable to have any more children could be a part of her sentence.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 24/12/2019 18:08

What a vile human

How anyone can sit back and watch someone hurt a child is beyond me but surely as a parent your parental instinct kicks in?

If as a parent the desire to protect your child doesn’t come above everything then you are indeed a fucking shit parent.

May she one day rot in hell

Okbutno · 24/12/2019 18:44

@beautifulstranger101 I don't think it is fair to say no one in prison ever takes responsibility for their actions. I've worked with offenders and although lots don't some do. However she is certainly not. She put him in harms way.

Roselilly36 · 24/12/2019 18:48

A mother always protects her child, she failed In her duty. I hope to God she doesn’t have anymore children. RIP Alfie.

Gingerkittykat · 24/12/2019 18:51

It's mindblowing that she has been released from prison already.

beautifulstranger101 · 24/12/2019 18:51

@okbutno I'm referring mainly to violent, brutal crimes. In my experience of offenders that have committed what you might call "evil" acts- none of them ever took responsibility.
I'm not referring to more minor crimes like cannabis possession or fraud etc

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/12/2019 18:54

Yes, I was surprised she was out so soon. How is that justice?.

Why don’t these people just adopt? If your not happy to do it put the child up for adoption.

Don’t sit there watching them being crushed to death instead.

sprite25 · 24/12/2019 19:45

Sat hear reading this while 2 and a half Yr old DS plays near by 😢how anyone, let alone a childs mother can let someone do that and just sit there is vile, I hope she has the worst life possible til her dying breath. Rip that poor little boy
