Dog phobia cures

Hello. I have an 8 year old who is scared of dogs, but the fear seems to be getting worse. Does anyone have any experiences of helping a child in this situation? I'm prepared to consider anything, but obviously don't want to do anything which might damage her. Does anyone know if hypnotherapy works?

@Love51 I used to have a severe fear of dogs when I was around 9-12 years old (literally wouldn't step foot anywhere a dog could potentially be- even on leads!). For me I just grew out of it and my family ended up getting a small dog when I turned 13 so that helped a tonne! I'm now 20 and it doesn't bother me anymore, I think I was just overly anxious as a person and it manifested as a fear of dogs.
