Urgent defrosting turkey question

olivertwistwantsmore · 24/12/2019 09:49

My turkey crown says to defrost for 28-35 hours in fridge but I left it too late and only got it out at 6.30am today.

Will it be ok to defrost in a cool room instead?? Or will we be eating at midnight tomorrow?!

I’d just leave it on the kitchen side to get it started quicker. As long as it’s not next to a radiator it should be fine.

Sit it in cold water. Apparently salt water is a thing too.

stripeypillowcase · 24/12/2019 09:53

yes. cool room, but make sure mice can't to it.

No mice, lol! Have put it in garden... 🦃🐀

In cold water will be the quickest and safest way to defrost quickly

Apolloanddaphne · 24/12/2019 10:13

I hope it's well covered to protect from cats, foxes, birds etc? You would be better leaving it somewhere cool in the house

UnderHisEyeBall · 24/12/2019 10:14

Put it outside. A bucket of brine is perfect here.

Apolloanddaphne · 24/12/2019 10:14

Tbh 24 hours will take it to 6.30 am tomorrow. Surely you don't want to cook it until about 11 so that would be plenty time?

MustardScreams · 24/12/2019 10:14

Defrost it in cold water. Quickest and easiest way.
