Just for fun! Anyone care to join?
I will start.
When DD1 was little, one of the first words she said was Da Byfe. Other words gradually clarified, but Da Byfe was always just that. We used to ask her what Da Byfe was and she would just grin. This went on till she was well over 2 and could speak properly.
One winter evening I was putting her to bed myself. DH was out. I had turned the lights out upstairs to help calm her down. As I put her in bed, she looked over my shoulder and exclaimed "Da Byfe!"
"What is Da Byfe?" I asked. "Is it an animal? Is it your friend?"
"Not friend," she said, seriously. "He is cross and scary."
Me: "Erm, right. Well, where is Da Byfe?"
Her: "He's just 'hind you, Mummy. He's cross."
Of course, there was nothing there when I whipped turned around. But I felt uneasy for some time after at bedtimes.
The DTs are nearly two now. They don't speak very well. The other week, I got up with DT2 in the night when she had a bad dream. She was really upset.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Baishe, da baishe," she said tearfully.
