Just for fun! Anyone care to join?

I will start.

When DD1 was little, one of the first words she said was Da Byfe. Other words gradually clarified, but Da Byfe was always just that. We used to ask her what Da Byfe was and she would just grin. This went on till she was well over 2 and could speak properly.

One winter evening I was putting her to bed myself. DH was out. I had turned the lights out upstairs to help calm her down. As I put her in bed, she looked over my shoulder and exclaimed "Da Byfe!"

"What is Da Byfe?" I asked. "Is it an animal? Is it your friend?"

"Not friend," she said, seriously. "He is cross and scary."

Me: "Erm, right. Well, where is Da Byfe?"

Her: "He's just 'hind you, Mummy. He's cross."

Of course, there was nothing there when I whipped turned around. But I felt uneasy for some time after at bedtimes.

The DTs are nearly two now. They don't speak very well. The other week, I got up with DT2 in the night when she had a bad dream. She was really upset.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Baishe, da baishe," she said tearfully.

Me 😱😱😱

Every year, for as long as I can remember, if we had a merry Christmas banner up, no matter which house we lived in or where it was placed in the house, my grandfather's name "Chris" would blow upwards randomly. No drafts or anything that could cause it, and as I said, this happened in numerous houses we lived in and on different positions in the houses too.

Of course, it could just be coincidence, bit I like to think he's around.

Johnny. That is seriously odd and disturbing. Have you any idea who da Byrfe could be? Da = the? But wonder what/who byfe/baishe? is/was?😱. Eeek.

HerRoyal how lovely that the part of the banner with your Dads name always blows up. I can see how you feel he’s with you when that happens.

When dd was about 2/3, we were at home together in the day as usual and dh (her daddy) was at work. She randomly said "why's daddy got a crown on?". I mentioned it to dh when he got home as it was so random and she'd asked a few times. Dh was gobsmacked and said that day he'd found a dressing up box at work (in an office, no reason why dressing up shit should be there), and he'd taken a crown out of the box and wore it around the office that day.

I don't get why Da Byfe and Baishe are scary!
